CD players and turn signal stalks are different things. My issue with the lack of stalks is the button setup is not an improvement in any way.
They removed the stalks the same reason they built the Cyber Truck...just 'cause'. But I suspect the stalks are going to carry over to the new redesigned Y in North America because it could actually affect sales

They did it to save money. They just sell it as a “quirk” or “forward thinking”
I don't think it saves them any money, what does a stalk cost, $5? I think it's just their push into eventual self driving, but they got a lot of push back which is why I don't think they will do this in the Y. But it remains to be seen, let's see what the Y for North America looks like when it's released

$5 on every Tesla they build? That’s a ton of money.

Personally, I didn't think it was a big deal, if it affected usability in anyway I would have passed up buying a Model 3. But I can see a lot of people coming from a car like a Camry, Accord, Civic etc walking away from even test driving one, which is why it was a head scratcher move
It 100% would keep me from considering one. Given the fact that there is market for aftermarket stalks I would say its definitely an issue.
There's an aftermarket for every car. I was able to add Android Auto, Google maps, and correct suspension issues (I would call them deficiencies) for my 2nd Gen IS350. Not to mention a tune that allowed me to wind it out to 7k RPM. I don't think most people are going running out and buying aftermarket stalks, as it literally takes a few hours to get used to no stalks. The outcry's that you mostly hear are from non-Tesla owners or owners of pre-refresh Model 3's.
So yes, removing the stalks didn't solve any issues, but it also didn't create any either, IMO of course

I truly don't understand why people constantly complain about a car and brand they will never buy. Make it make sense.
Yeah, no way I was going to pass up owning one of the fastest factory cars in history because of something so minor. Charging is far more annoying to me.
But the juice is easily worth the squeeze. By a looooong shot.

Never say never. I swore I would never own a Tesla, an Apple product, and a BMW. I'll probably never own an Apple product, but BMW may be in my future. So scratch two out of three
