You're disgusting if you're celebrating violence against somebody just because they opposed a union action. And in this case he didn't even do that. He is not a "scab", he was attending to his duties collecting trash from the port. That's not crossing a picket line. You also have zero evidence that he hit them with his truck.

And police reminded the picketers that they can not block the entrance to the port.

Nobody is celebrating violence. it can be very dangerous crossing a picket line.

look up ‘Bloody Thursday 1934”. Where a longshoreman who was picketing was killed

if they can, great!! I have no problems with it. Have you seen how much Bucees (gas station) employees earn? 6 figures possible

depends on one's needs and many other factors. is another person working in the household? is this person doing overtime (apparently VERY common in this business)? lifestyle, etc.

It shouldn’t matter if it’s a single household income or not.

ha ha, i've been told i'm overpaid, sure. they're entitled to their opinions too. as far as would i take 50% vs 77%, again, too many factors involved, but based on what i know about the WORK, they are WELL compensated already. sure, inflation hurt them and almost EVERYONE, but a guaranteed raise for 10 years? that seems preposterous and unrealistic.

i have a job (business) thank you. if they don't like the job, they can find something else to do. oh wait, with their skills, they can't find anything that pays anywhere close as much + i assume full benefits, etc.
I’m sure they appreciate their job as it takes care of their families. I don’t think the job is as easy as you and others are making it out to be. If that were the case, everyone would be lined up trying to get that job. Pay them what you’re not willing to do.

I’ve gotten a raise after 6yrs without a penny raise just for my employer less than a year later later present a new contract with LESS money BEFORE the raise.

FYI I used to be vice president of a local union

he's against cameras on ports!

i did realize he has a background when it cut off his arm

he also says the docks are very dangerous and people get killed all the time. he said he 'fights for safety' and gives examples of many dangerous tasks they perform.

these are clearly tasks that could be automated or made much safer by technology he opposes.

only delayed until jan 15th... how convenient so the white house doesn't have a black eye before the election.

nothing determined on automation which i see as a bigger issue that raises.

Telephone operators still have a job....in the Customer-Service branch of the phone companies. They just deal with customer-problems and other issues instead of actually directing calls. And, given the number of times that automatically-operated elevators break down, and the length of time they are often out of service, you might actually have something about bringing the old bellhop-style back.

Agreed......automation is the real issue. There seems to be no report on how that came out.

Not sure I agree on that one. One can be hurt or killed by a machine (perhaps even more-likely so) than by loading/unloading ships by hand.

Automation will kill their jobs and I'm sad about that.

One day I'll tell a story of what I witnessed first hand when I asked a plant manager at a factory if he would like me to design an autoloader for one of his machines.

That's like saying I'm better off using only floor jacks instead of powered lifts.....makes no sense and ultimately makes my job harder and I can't do as much in the same time period
