45k dockworker's about to strike
Military cargo and cruise-ships will not be exempted by the strike, to minimize its effect on national security and not leave Americans stranded abroad on the ships and unable to return home.
Well, it's not a question of "nice" ...probably more the fact that most of the the country would turn on them if they refused to keep critical military supplies going, or if Americans abroad on cruise ships ended up stranded. You may dislike the union, but it is not stupid.

These men you think are so righteous as to deserve special protection and praise and exclusive business with regards to auto buying are willing to deprive you so that their already bloated salaries can become further bloated.
I really don't understand your fetish for union workers. Why are they more deserving than anybody else in your mind?

I've removed both political and off topic posts from this thread.
Please keep on topic, this isn't a Buick / China thread.
If you get political, you get the boot. No warnings.

Sounds like it's at a Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC), which are usually directly adjacent to the port that serves them. I'm pretty sure VDC employees are not part of the ILA.
I see a lot of dockworkers' W-2s. Yeah they do make a lot of OT and $.
And as I mentioned in the Hurricane thread, people are buying up TP and paper towels at Costco and BJs in NYC area. Of course, most of them most likely not based on need, but profit.
