On the Mini Cooper there were two ways to move the speedo back in front of the driver. The most common one was to order navigation, which went in the giant circle in the center stack. The other, which was relatively rare and I only discovered recently, was to order the chrono pack. This gave you a really beautifully laid-out set of auxillary gauges:
you don't know that. but there you go again, speaking for everyone.
I'm pretty confident. If you want to be condescended to great, I will pass. We’re all pretty high level car enthusiasts here. I’d like to see us all respected as such by each other.
to say i disagree would be a huge understatement. i had the misfortune to drive many of those as rentals.
and inside? ugliest cheapest plastic oval-fest ever.
You have to compare it to what came before it. Higher spec Tauruses of that generation actually had pretty nice materials. For instance they had leather for the entire seat not just the seating surfaces, all the dash and door pad materials were thick and soft padded, they didn’t have much hard plastic. They also had wood grain inserts for those plastic areas you didn’t like.
Not saying at all it was a good car…
This is an SHO, you can see the quality of the leather stitching in the top of the seats, that was leather on all surfaces, sides, backs, everything. All those dash and door materials were padded and thick feeling too.
In other news, I sold another Pacifica Hybrid lol. Chrysler should pay me a commission! My sister in law and brother in law in NJ we were just with have a Honda Odyssey and driving our Pacifica convinced them to buy one, they’re buying it tomorrow. It’s amazing how cheap the Odyssey feels compared to it. They have had two Odysseys and a bunch of other Hondas and are moving on from Hondas because of reliability issues. Lots of problems.

It's amazing what complacency and trying to save a dollar can do to a company once known for reliability. We're seeing this play out with Toyota and Honda right now.

Absolutely. Their cars are high mileage now, and they beat on them but they have consistently had issues the last few years even when the cars were new.
Im interested to see how their Pacifica holds up. They will lease it and then buy it out, that’s the only way to get the $7,500 tax credit with their income (same issue I had) and their leases right now are very low MF. My calculations show that they will save $15,000 leasing and buying out vs buying and financing upfront.
I finally was able to pry the keys away from my spouse lol. She’s a looker.
Another thing I’ve noticed with this is how excellent the chassis is. We know GM gets them right, chassis tuning. This truck gets up to speed just like a luxury car and arrests said speed just about as well. The adaptive dampers work great, you don’t notice them. I’ve raced lots in this truck and like I said it slows down just as well as it goes, despite the massive size. The brakes are excellent. After a hard pull up to 100 it gets back down to legal speeds with zero drama. Great truck. I would never buy a luxury sedan over a luxury truck, at least not anymore.
And I’d never buy a luxury truck over a luxury sedan. So there’s a market for both of us
Great truck but still a truck. Truck isn’t a replacement for a sedan, and vice versa.
Yep! I'm telling you though, the power and braking and chassis all make it feel like a luxury car. It doesn't do it as well as your car, of course not... but damn well good enough.
Also, this wouldn't be the case if luxury cars were still appealing to me. That was kind of my point.
The only luxury sedan I want is the diesel S-Class and I doubt you can even get them.

It's good but it's not even the best for an SUV yet alone cars, a Range Rover is far better than those still can't touch modern flagship cars.
Get a V12 S class.....you owe it to yourself to at least try one.
Remember I just drove a Tahoe for a week. Not even close to a luxury sedan. It doesn’t do anything like a luxury sedan or feel like a luxury sedan. It has its own unique appeal, but the two aren’t similar at all.
Something like a Range Rover is much closer to the feel of a high end luxury sedan while still having the upright driving position and utility of an SUV. Even the GLS450 I had for a week is no replacement for a sedan. I was so ready to get my S Class back.
When I got home from NJ last night (we went up at different times so we had both cars) I noticed that there seemed to be some kind of a dent or warp in my hood, right in the center up by the windshield. One of those things where you can't quite tell whether thats how its supposed to be or not. Well this morning, it was gone. Went out today and ran some errands and got the car washed...and it was there again. Now went out several hours later when the car is all cooled off...and its gone again.
All I can think is there are two vents behind the turbos that eject right up towards that area of the hood and the difference in temp with it being cold now for the first time (in the 30s) where the heat from those vents and the cold outside are causing the aluminum hood to temporarily warp?
Hard to get it in pictures...but this was this afternoon:
You can see the reflection of the door drive is now straight:
This is the vent I am talking about, its rignt under this area...
