Which do you value more in an EV?
If you've ever driven in one (which I'm sure you have), they are really nice. Even the looks are fine. The hyper screen is another story. I asked the owner how he likes the car, and he paused, looked at the screen, said he loves the car, but the tech was overwhelming. He looked exhausted while he told me that

You would never have to make a stop for 40 minutes unless you had an EV that had a max 150 kW charging curve, like my Polestar. If you were driving an EV like our Ioniq 5 with 800v battery pack, 18 minutes tops, and if you were driving my Model Y, 25 minutes tops. That is if you were charging with either a 350 kW EA charger or a 250 kW Tesla charger.

however, according to their website, it's max 150 kW!?

2) Wait a couple years until charging network gets built out in that area
Yeah if I could get my wife to agree to something really nice I would go get that i7 and just take her vehicle on trips.
The other issue is she doesn’t like that. She doesn’t like having to drive my car when I travel alone and not have all her stuff etc. Even before the kids were born I always drove the Jeeps to WV and we always argued about it. So that’s another impediment. She does carpool and all and she would have to do it in the sedan and she’s going to be all pissy about that lol

there's a reason tesla built that huge harris ranch charging station bullseye in the middle of the state on i5.

was thinking that, or get his wife something nicer like a GLS or palisade!
could be a lot more than a couple of years down near cousin eddie.

And yes, Tesla has Diesel generators at this new site in case demand is exceeded. I thought I would add that because I'm sure someone is going to jump on it with a gotcha!
I agree. The question for me is the incredible feel of that i7 in 95% of my normal driving worth the admitted non ideal nature of driving in on a trip which amounts to perhaps 5% of my driving? I honestly am not sure what the answer to that question is.
The Lucid I drove I would say no, it didnt wow me that way...but the i7....

Or maybe just have the second (ICE) vehicle as family hauler That's what I would do if I like an EV that much. You never have to spend 25 minutes at a Tesla fast charger while travelling, at least travelling here in California. The mapping software will have you charge so you reach your destination quickly. As I've stated in previous posts, when I travel 380 miles to my brothers house, it's two stops....one 12 minute and one 15 minute. I usually reach my brothers house with about 18 percent state of charge. Usually the next morning I will take it to the Tesla superchargers half mile from his house and charge to 80 percent, which usually takes about 20 minutes on a 250 kW charger. Keep in mind, I only use fast chargers while travelling. In town, I've never used one
It works for you, great. I know it does for many. The family I know take their Y everywhere, even cross country trips too. The stops don't bother them. They absolutely LOVE their tesla. If you like EVs for other reasons, sure. As you mentioned, the mapping software will help. If you don't mind where the stops are, sure just go with the mapping software. But if you travel with small ones, wouldn't you look into these places to see what kind of neighborhood they're in? If you routinely travel this route, sure, no issue. But what if this is a new route/trip? Even when you know your stops, you're basically stuck with what you can eat on your route or have to stop somewhere else for the foods you/your passengers may want.
It's personal preference and pointless to debate but since you mentioned, how about going the whole 380 and spend time there without having to worry about stops? My tank can go almost 600. I can eat/pee whenever/wherever needed.

We would leave around 8PM and they would sleep through the night, otherwise they would drive us nuts. As to the difference between what it takes to travel in my gas car and our Tesla, our gas car would save us about 20 to 30 minutes on total travel time, but cost at least $100 more in gas
To me one of the big factors is what do we get to replace the Pacifica. I don't want to drive the Pacifica on this trip, but if we get a nice SUV that I would like driving, thats a possibility. But leaving my awesome $130,000 car parked and driving a minivan on this trip isnt an option lol

i'm not seeing the issue?
i didn't realize you go to wv by yourself, thought it was always a fam trip. here's a thought... pay to put a level 2 charger in your cousin's place in WV. then you can charge there, and you'll be fine!
wow that's huge.
lol, i'd read about that but didn't know if it was just fake news.

It’s supposed to be one or the other. White trim if you get the white interior, wood if you get black
My X7 can get about 430 miles of highway driving on a full tank which costs me $80 to fill up so to do the same trip it would have cost me $40. Not as much savings as one thinks on a road trip. Charging at home sure, but not solely on super chargers.
EDIT:
I see what you are saying. They messed up on the trim, it should look like this:
Your friend should have never taken delivery

LoL that's funny. I would be extremely mad as well

So here is an interesting take on this. I took a road trip yesterday which was 200 miles round trip and I left with 50% charge and i got to my destination with under 10% charge so I had to stop at a Tesla super charger and to get it back up to 50% it cost me $17. So to drive about 200 miles if I used a supercharger only it would have cost me $34.
