Goes into effect next year but it’s September and anybody can make do with EA for a few months…

I wish I liked the EQ MB models because that’s a huge plus.

If you've ever driven in one (which I'm sure you have), they are really nice. Even the looks are fine. The hyper screen is another story. I asked the owner how he likes the car, and he paused, looked at the screen, said he loves the car, but the tech was overwhelming. He looked exhausted while he told me that

I drove an EQS. I hate the way they look, totally a deal breaker for me

there's a reason tesla built that huge harris ranch charging station bullseye in the middle of the state on i5.

however, according to their website, it's max 150 kW!?

could be a lot more than a couple of years down near cousin eddie.

Yeah if I could get my wife to agree to something really nice I would go get that i7 and just take her vehicle on trips.

The other issue is she doesn’t like that. She doesn’t like having to drive my car when I travel alone and not have all her stuff etc. Even before the kids were born I always drove the Jeeps to WV and we always argued about it. So that’s another impediment. She does carpool and all and she would have to do it in the sedan and she’s going to be all pissy about that lol

Those 18 chargers were installed many years ago, now there are 98 more, most of those are 250 kW chargers

And yes, Tesla has Diesel generators at this new site in case demand is exceeded. I thought I would add that because I'm sure someone is going to jump on it with a gotcha!

The Lucid I drove I would say no, it didnt wow me that way...but the i7....
That's a personal question for you to answer. What makes you happier? Or maybe just have the second (ICE) vehicle as family hauler That's what I would do if I like an EV that much.

I usually reach my brothers house with about 18 percent state of charge. Usually the next morning I will take it to the Tesla superchargers half mile from his house and charge to 80 percent, which usually takes about 20 minutes on a 250 kW charger. Keep in mind, I only use fast chargers while travelling. In town, I've never used one
It's personal preference and pointless to debate but since you mentioned, how about going the whole 380 and spend time there without having to worry about stops? My tank can go almost 600. I can eat/pee whenever/wherever needed. It works for you, great. I know it does for many. The family I know take their Y everywhere, even cross country trips too. The stops don't bother them. They absolutely LOVE their tesla. If you like EVs for other reasons, sure. As you mentioned, the mapping software will help. If you don't mind where the stops are, sure just go with the mapping software. But if you travel with small ones, wouldn't you look into these places to see what kind of neighborhood they're in? If you routinely travel this route, sure, no issue. But what if this is a new route/trip? Even when you know your stops, you're basically stuck with what you can eat on your route or have to stop somewhere else for the foods you/your passengers may want.

Even if I took a gasoline car, I would barely be able to make the 380 miles on a full tank...at least the cars I've owned. In my Sienna, I would probably make it, but I would be on fumes when I reached my destination. My IS350, forget it. There are two mountain passes you have to go through between NorCal and SoCal (Pacheco Pass, and the Grapevines), one of them is a 5 percent grade, and that's where your gas gets eaten.

As to kids, when my kids were small, we only travelled at night. We would leave around 8PM and they would sleep through the night, otherwise they would drive us nuts. As to the difference between what it takes to travel in my gas car and our Tesla, our gas car would save us about 20 to 30 minutes on total travel time, but cost at least $100 more in gas

Are you going to take a look at the TX when it comes out? The plug in version will probably replace our LX. Despite some of its short comings, I love the LX but the TX offers so much more interior space. We test drove the Grand Highlander to get an idea of the interior space the TX will have.

i didn't realize you go to wv by yourself, thought it was always a fam trip. here's a thought... pay to put a level 2 charger in your cousin's place in WV. then you can charge there, and you'll be fine!

Lol there are two different trims installed on this car. White plastic on the door trim and the light colored matte wood on the dash.

It’s supposed to be one or the other. White trim if you get the white interior, wood if you get black

So here is an interesting take on this. I took a road trip yesterday which was 200 miles round trip and I left with 50% charge and i got to my destination with under 10% charge so I had to stop at a Tesla super charger and to get it back up to 50% it cost me $17. So to drive about 200 miles if I used a supercharger only it would have cost me $34.

My X7 can get about 430 miles of highway driving on a full tank which costs me $80 to fill up so to do the same trip it would have cost me $40. Not as much savings as one thinks on a road trip. Charging at home sure, but not solely on super chargers.

Why? It's such a simple easy way to exit the car. Don't knock it until you try it. My other cars all have handles and I hate them now

EDIT:

I see what you are saying. They messed up on the trim, it should look like this:

Your friend should have never taken delivery

LoL that's funny. I would be extremely mad as well

Oh yeah, charging at Tesla superchargers saves you only a little money when you factor the cost per kWh they charge you. Where you actually save money is on the efficiency, not the cost of the electricity. If you were able to "fill-up" your X7 at a Tesla supercharger, it would be probably be double or the triple the cost. Home charging is where you really save money. In California with gas being over $5, we see more of a savings here
