Yep. I can't wait to see the pricing on these especially if they're offered alongside the I4 variants. It's going to be sky high. And this still doesn't solve the problem of massive weight if the hybrid gear is still included. In fact, it'll be even worse!

Yep, it's pitiful that this C63 thing weighs more than a W140 because of all the electric motor messes and batteries.
What Mercedes engineer seriously thought Americans (in general) would like this?? Over the V8 it replaced?

As I've said in previous C63 threads, I don't think they thought that. I think it was purely a cost thing and a fear of fines for their emissions in their home market. It's the same with including the OPF filter in AMG exhausts after 2020. No one in America wanted that and there was no gov't regulation for it but they didn't want to stomach the cost of making two different exhausts. I think its awesome they're going rumored to the bring back in the V8 but they will be recouping their cost on this and it won't be pretty lol.
What you and some others have been consistently right on is that the EV takeover isn't going to happen as fast as they assumed, so now the contingency plans are being activated to keep refreshing the MRA II platform vehicles past their usual expiry date.

I feel like many people thought there were no contingency plans, of course there were/are!!!!!!
It's good to see the V8 returning, but my excitement is substantially muted by the fact that it's just swapping in for the ICE portion of the existing C63 ePerformance. So now the car that already outweighs its competition by half a ton is going to get even heavier?
It's possible they reduce the PHEV to simply an MHEV like the C43 or HEV right? And just abandon the e-Performance aspect and leave that for the full EVs?
will have to see what fits. The GT63 4 door has a V8 and all the battery crap but its a larger vehicle. Is that even sold here? Does AMG even sell a V8 sedan here anymore? lol.

I agree, and I don't want any hybrid crap either.... but just the important thing... V8 is not dead. I don't see them having it weigh a ****ton with a monster V8 under the hood, so maybe the batteries etc will be limited.
The last portion of the C&D article, lol:
According to senior engineers directly involved in the matter, both the C-class and E-class need only minor bodywork changes to accommodate the twin-turbo powerplant, the PHEV battery plus electric motor, and the auxiliary equipment. Since the C- and E-class are under evaluation for a life-cycle extension beyond 2028, the hardcore (V8 I assume) AMG versions may remain in production well into the next decade.
This makes total sense, a 4cyl in a C63 and E63 AMG just makes no sense. May as well just cancel those models or make them full EV

This is not an EV that is being replaced with an ICE lol, this is a vehicle with a hybrid ICE being replaced with another hybrid ICE with a better engine. When they cancel an EV model and replace it with an ICE vehicle we will talk.

It's not a pissing contest. IDC either way. However nobody is canceling their EVs, they are free to remain stacked on the lots not moving (here at least) with huge $12,500 discount stickers in the windows.
But clearly MB is responding to input. I can't even begin to describe what a mess the 4 cylinder C63 is.
And V8 isn't dead which is glorious, even in this article they say they won't drop the V8 in... until 2026. I thought MB was done with ICE engines?? All a virtue signal. MB ICE free EV only by 2030 my butt.
