This guy says toyota is done for and he might be right unfortunately. Scroll to time 7:59. He points out that not only is the Tesla model y beating toyota as the worlds #1 selling vehicle, but that it’s doing so despite costing almost twice as much as a Corolla, Camry or RAV4 . I hope toyota gets there act together and fast!!!!!
This is what I see in the video YOU linked. Toyota has 4/5 of the world's best selling vehicles this year.. and you think they're "done for"? Gee, I wonder what that must mean for every other brand selling even less than Toyota! They couldn't even spell Hilux properly lol.

There are plenty of idiots in the world so stay tuned to Club Lexus to stay grounded in reality. lol
No, Toyota isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, it's bait maybe just a little. lol

Margate has it right....too many self-proclaimed prophets in Youtube videos. One would do better tossing a coin.
I’m not concerned with where toyota is at. They are clearly at the top. I’m concerned with where their vectors are now pointing which is away from the top and fast. If toyota isn’t careful they will be the next Kodak. Some like me see this problem now. Others can’t see it yet. And then you have those who refuse to see it at all. I’m just fascinated by the power of denial despite teslas’s clear CONTINUOUS movement in displacing Toyota. Popcorn? Anybody? 😂
All the automakers, every single one of them, have missed this early EV adoption phase. The first 30% of EV market penetration is easy, and Tesla is going to get most of that. BYD in China. Sure there will be EV sales from other companies, but nothing too significant. But getting EV adoption rates past 30% is going to be a challenge, ICE is going to be around for longer than you think unless the world governments want to destroy the auto industry entirely (which many of them do want to do actually).
Just wait until the Model2 is released - its going to get a lot worse for the entry level manufacturers when Tesla is selling a sub $30K EV.

the HARDEST part was the first 30%. It only gets easier after that until mass adoption. That’s how s-curves and tipping points work.
No, its the easier part. Because now you run into the segment of the market that can't charge at home (apartments, etc), and other segments that resist EVs totally, or see that they are incompatible with their lifestyles, driving distances, towing needs, cold weather locales, etc. The first 30% is the easiest - the people who have lifestyles which can accommodate an EV, jump in. Now it runs up against resistance.

Very true and they earned it.

If you are talking about trending it can kinda look that way but impossible to see a vector due to variables unknown, it would just be a guess or like mm said above, a coin toss. IMO

I see you are a new member and I'm trying hard to give the benefit of the doubt and consider your thesis.
But- if your thesis is everyone is dumb because they don't see that Toyota is doomed to failure because they "missed the boat" or better make EV's today or expire like Kodak, I have to say I disagree with you friend.
Japan and Germany make the best and most advanced electronics I have ever seen so I believe if Toyota wants to make an EV today- they can snap their fingers and make it happen faster than you think.
Providing of course they can get the materials or partner with someone who can.
Lots of people love Ev's and that's cool but plz understand they do not work for everyone and not everyone is excited about it.
And one last thing, I come here because it is a Lexus forum so I see no reason to be here and bash Lexus or Toyota, just saying and nothing but love for my fellow CL members.

I’m not bashing toyota. I drive a Lexus LS myself. Im simply calling it like I see it. And right now I see a very big problem for toyota and I voiced it. I have a right to do that. That’s not meant to be an offense unless you choose to take it as such which was never my intent. I just wanted to hear others thoughts on this ESPECIALLY SINCE I OWN ONE.

Do u think apartments that weren’t willing to install chargers before 30% would be (a,b or c) after 30%?
a) more willing
b) less willing
c) no change
Personally I think it would be a selling point for landlords just like central A/C and washer/dryer hookups because the DEMAND for EV’s is growing.

GM is selling two sub-30K EVs right now. And, IMHO, one of them is an excellent machine at that....the Chevy Bolt EUV, which starts at $27,800. I have driven both the EUV ad the Tesla Model 3, and, unless you want dragster-type torque, which the Model 3 has up the Wazoo, the EUV is a much nicer machine in almost every way. The regular Chevy Bolt starts at $26,500, but IMO is not as nicely-done as the Bolt EUV.
