Installed the new & improved rear coils for the penske coilovers yesterday. Its a fix for the rear clunking noise issue only without effecting performance traits.
RR changed the rear coils from 8" to 10". Simon told me the new ones are 800lb spring rate. Not actually sure if the old ones were 800 lbs as well or if these are softer/stiffer.
Only had a little seat time but the noise level is noticeably reduced. I wouldn't say its 100% quiet but it is a huge improvement. Worth the effort to change out for sure.
Only thing better would be if RR supplied these for free as a retro fix. They weren't very much so nbd I guess.
Saw SkiPete post that the performance is the same for him on the track. Guess I'll confirm that on next track day myself.

Ming, did you swap them out yourself or get a shop to do it? How long did it take? Just wondering if I can do it myself (don't own a spring compressor, and not even sure if I need one). Thanks.

Hi Edson,
yeah I did the swap with help from a buddy who owns a shop, so I had the car on a lift & all the right tools.
Took about 2 hours and I didn't use a spring compressor.
Once the struts were off car, I spun the bottom coilovers spring perch down 2" per RR instructions. That part wasn't fun because the helper spring still has a load on it. Guess I could have compressed the coil a tad bit to make it easier but I didn't bother. Forearm workout!!
It's definitely doable at home if you got some basic skills and tools. Me personally, getting too old (sigh) to want to be under the car upside down that much. Much easier to do it on a lift. Or just pay a shop few hours labor to do it.

Happy wrenching!
Btw when are you gonna come through ATL so I can get to see that car of yours?

I'm digging the Advan track wheels. Black is definitely the way to go with Ultrawhite IMO!

Awesome build, thanks for all the helpful info

Hey Edson, looking forward to it!
Hopefully I won't be swamped that day since it's a school night.
I'm sure Justin (MisterEun) will remind me. He's the ATL coordinator.
Where are you staying? You got family in Alpharetta right?

Ordered these today! T Demand front uppers.
Hopefully they won't take forever to get here from the motherland.
Dealer said typically 30 days. I will be stoked if I get them in 30.
Still a lot of track days left and would love to get them on car asap. Should be able to get 3 to 4 degrees camber on the front now. May be then I can keep up with the Miata and S2000 in the corners...

Lou is suppose to be shipping me the Tom's chassis stiffening braces this coming week too. Plus the Blitz tower bar should be on the way.
Can't wait!!

Who is Lou that is shipping you the Tom's Chassis Braces? How much are they?

And which Front Upper Arms did you get? Onikyan or Semikyan?

LOU is the guy that will take all your MONEY, but will make your JDM Dreams come True...

Too BAD...T-Demand currently DON'T offer suspension parts for the GS-F Chassis...
