Default First Lexus

Hey everyone, I'm an 18 year old highschool student who recently acquired my first car, a black 2000 GS300. The car has a nearly-new engine, as well as new 16" tires and a rear spoiler. While I enjoy the car, I'm interested in making it look slightly sportier. If anyone has any suggestions for affordable altercations, I would love to hear them. I've been told that a change in rims can electrify the exterior, although I'm looking for some advice from more experienced car owners. Thanks.

Congrats on the pick up. It looks very clean! Honestly i'd just look for a set of 5 spoke 17" OEM rims to throw on there that come with the GS400's. Those with some spacers and a little lowering look very sporty. Even without being lowered they still look sporty IMO.

Interesting. I just looked up the 17" OEM rims, and I think they would compliment the car pretty well. Lowering would look great too, just not sure if that's cost effective for me right now. What's the effect of a spacer on a wheel?

18 and your first car? how did you get around till then? btw an altercation is a fight/argument you meant alterations

before we start modding the car, how is the maintenance? any issues it needs attended to?

Congrats. Welcome. You're a college student. I would highly advise you to spend your money on other things like food...lol!!!

But seriously, if the maintenance was not kept up on this car you are going to be asking for funds from your parents on a consistent basis. The parts are not cheap even though the car was....

To make a long story short, my dad's friend owns a dealership/auto shop, and he was replacing this car's engine and radiator for a customer. After the car was fixed, the previous owner called and told my dad's friend that he had already bought a newer model of the car, so he did not want it. Since the mechanic needed to sell the car, he sold it to my dad and I for a really good price. The car's mechanically sound, although there are a few quirks (13 year old car.) The only issues that need to be fixed are a door lock actuator on the passenger side front door, and a dime sized scrape that is beginning to rust. I'm not sure how expensive those repairs are, but I'd like to purchase some rims and spacers.

Good pickup. Good luck with the car. I do have to second the above mentioned advice: maintenance first, though the engine has been replaced, was it used new? if used I would go after smaller items, plugs thermostat, etc. then worry about looks.

Maintenance is definitely my first priority, but the mechanic (family friend and seller) said the car was in nearly perfect condition. As for the engine, I'm pretty sure it was new along with the hoses and timing belt 4,500 miles ago.

The car looks great! Don't worry, there are more youngsters around here than you think.

It's a shame you don't live closer to me; I have a set of 17" GS4 wheels with tires just sitting in my garage.
