Renderings Preview What an All-Electric Lexus IS Successor Could Look Like
Taking inspiration from Lexus concepts and the new ES, Theophilus Chin’s slick renderings give us a good look at a potential Lexus IS EV.
The Lexus IS is one of the longest-lasting models in the luxury brand’s current lineup – over 25 years, in fact, and it hasn’t been treated to a comprehensive redesign in some time, either. Rather, the IS is likely on the road to discontinuation following the current 2025 model year, which is a somber occasions for certain, but also an understandable one as compact luxury sedans simply aren’t as popular with shoppers as they used to be. However, it is possible that a future Lexus IS successor could emerge in all-electric guise, and these renderings preview what it might look like.
A few years ago, Lexus showed off a bevy of potential future all-electric products, and among that group, we had the Electrified Sedan Concept – which looked an awful lot like the Lexus IS in many ways (see below). That particular concept – coupled with the newly unveiled all-electric ES – also served as the inspiration for these renderings, which come to us from an artist known as Theophilus Chin.
The Lexus Electrified Sedan Concept immediately made a lot of folks think that the brand was cooking up an all-electric Lexus IS successor, and it’s easy to see the resemblance here. However, given the fact that the concept debuted four years ago, Chin opted to give it a bit of an update, using the all-new design language brought forth by the ES EV as a way to make it a bit more current, which of course dates back to the LF-ZC concept vehicle that debuted back in 2023.
That influence is clearly on display up front with an ES-like fascia with thin LED headlights, triangular-shaped elements on each end, and of course, a modernized spindle grille, to boot. In this case, that section is open and pulling in air, meaning that it could potentially pack a more traditional ICE or hybrid powertrain as well – just like the new ES. The sides of this newly revised sedan are more aggressive than the concept, though the wheel design is similar.
Out back, there are quite a few differences between the original Electrified Sedan concept and the newer renderings created by Chin, as the latter sports a full-width light bar and integrated spoiler, with smaller L-shaped pieces on each side. Overall, it’s a pretty nice take on what a next-generation, all-electric Lexus IS might look like, though it remains to be seen if such a vehicle is in the works.
