Slow rear defroster on my LS?
I had to sit in my car tonight for about an hour. I wound up fogging the windows on the inside. When I turned the car on, I put on the rear defroster. It took more than 2 cycles for it to defrost my rear glass. I do have thick Huper Optic window tint. Could this be the problem? I did notice that the lines did not get very hot when I touched them from the outside of the rear glass. I can't remember the last time I used the rear defroster so I have no memory of how fast it should be. Again, I'm thinking that maybe because I sat in there for an hour and created such a thick amount of condensation on the inside glass that it was a real tough job for the defroster? It is also snowing here in NY and abut 37 degrees. How do you guys rate your 430's defroster? I'm not impressed so far. Maybe if I had just gotten in the car with frost on the outside it would have been different and the slow operation was due to me sitting in the car for an hour creating the massive condensation on the inside? Tint thickness may be the culprit? Thoughts?

I've found rear defrosters to work much better on external frost and fog than interior condensation. The only effective fix for fog on the inside is using the HVAC defrost setting with a high fan speed. That uses both the A/C and heat to circulate warm, dry air.

New 2014 ES 350. Rear defrost fairly ineffective even after driving 45 minutes. Inside of car was warm, rear defrost on the whole time. Front defrost halfway on when I want to use only floor heat, which is a pain if you have dry eyes and cold feet. Feet never warm up and stereo has to be turned up to hear over sound of defroster. Five days and I'm tired of the flukes in this car. Steering wheel heater is great, though.

I also spend some time in the car and the windows get very foggy. Good times
Not going OT though, the rear-defrost is exactly that, not a de-mist. When I want the windows to get clear again, I just hit the front windshield button, so even with 0deg (C) outside the A/C kicks in and as caddyowner very correctly said, the dry air will fix everything in no time at all.

lol yes the defroster was very slow, in fact i took a gamble and just backed out my narrow driveway using parking sensors & side mirrors only lol. (no cross traffic in my culdesac.) I think it partially have to do with the fact its thicker glass then normal cars so it takes a while for the glass to heat up.
