While Lexus brass isn’t promising any radical changes for the next gen–hence “updated” not “new”–it should still be interesting to see what’s in store for the company’s big SUV.

The good people at Lexus recently invited me out to Las Vegas Motor Speedway to test the new 2013 Lexus GS350 in Luxury and F Sport trim. Both flavors showed that Lexus continues to raise the bar in terms of affordable luxury.

If you immediately think this match-up sounds like an excuse for some glossy magazine blokes to criticize the LFA for not being a “real” supercar, you’re forgiven. But consider this quote: “We stop to wait for the Aventador.” How often do you think that’s said?

After Road & Track accidentally leaked pics of the Lexus LF-LC concept scheduled to be revealed at NAIAS, the Lexus brass responded by releasing official shots showing the new 2+2 in all its glory.

With models like the LFA, IS F, and GS F Sport in its stable, it’s hardly a secret Lexus wants to move beyond pillow-soft luxury cars into serious high-performance territory. And if recent rumors are any indication, this strategic shift might also involve uprooting its corporate HQ.
