Found this image online of oil pump...It is upside down, but the Timing Belt Idler Pulley Bearing mounting bolt screws into the boss with tapped hole at lower left(no centering provision)...You must use a torque wrench to factory specs...

This is before image taken of illuminated door panel lighting module before application of the high temperature outdoor rated aluminum foil with high surface energy pressure sensitive adhesive with peel off backing to the interior of housing.
Notice bulb hot spot due to perpendicular bulb mounting (bulb envelop should be parallel to the lense...)and resulting lack of light uniformity across the lense face...gray plastic absorbs light better than reflecting it...and it shows

This image is taken after application of foil..
Much improved uniformity across the lense with improved luminosity but the incandescent bulb hot spot remains, but is less prominent.

Happy Toshiba brand incandescent T-3 1/4 all glass envelop wedge base lamp. Good quality..uncertain plastic wedge base will fit in the OEM socket..Toyota did an excellent molding job such that no other bulb may fit.

Side image of light assembly showing side openings...purportedly to allow heat to escape..or because the plastic sides would be too close to bulb...I covered the entire interior side to improve light uniformity...and because the aluminum foil does an excellent job of reflecting heat and not absorbing it as does gray plastic. If I feel the assembly temperature is too hot...then I will open up top opening and leave bottom covered.

The high energy adhesive makes this tape difficult to work with, but is necessary to durably adhere to the plastic housing. To better manage the tape while inserting it into the pocket, and improve results, I used the backing paper (wax side!) To use as a guide. Once the bottom is in place, I use my skewer stick to press it onto the bottom surface, then release the paper to finish the top.

Foil applied to entire pocket of lamp assembly...sure does reflect light. By using a piece of release paper to guide the foil panels in place and a thin pointed skewer stick, the application turned out well..no wrinkles. I will advise on whether temperature issues with covering side holes in pocket. It is the authors opinion these cutouts were there because the sides were too close to bulb,(melting) so the OEM had to remove those sections...

The small plastic square grille covers the thermister. I removed my lower dash cover to access mine...but if you just want to clean it....then if you have a fine bladed tool, the lances for the tiny cover are located top and bottom...make sure you can obtain a replacement in your interior color before you break it...

Side view of the assembly...the seal is shot and this could have contributed to the problem because it appears air intakes into the grille, so it was likely drawing air from behind the dash instead.

Rear Room Lighting module...there appears different part numbers for left and right side...apparently for extraction the module tilts and pops out only one side by inserting a very thin bladed tool to compress an internal clip.unsure if that is from the front or rearmost side...or if pressure is employed by two tools on the front or rearmost sides...

Power curve (Denso) for 130A alternator. (I believe this is power curve for same Denso alternator in 2001-2003 LS430) .the take away is better power production at lower RPMs where our engines tend to reside.over 1997 and earlier LS400's which have 2,700 RPM stall speed vs. 1998-2000 LS400 @2,200 torque converters and taller gearing ~3.73 vs ~3.26 for 1998-2000 LS400.
It is my belief the battery will not have to work as hard at lower RPM's and thus will last longer.

This Lexus parts diagram depicts Ls400 oil pump bolts...notice bolt #3 as compared to LS430 bolt does not have a stud protruding from the head...not necessary because LS400 100A alternator does not possess a third mounting ear.
