Yeah there may be an easier way... I noticed on the parts diagram that the lower grill is separate from the bumper. I think it snaps out somehow but I didn't want to break any clips... If it pops out without taking the bumper off that'd be great..

This sucks. Time for TX owners to lower their comprehensive insurance deductibles. BMW has a similar problem with fragile oil coolers and windshields. Road debris damage = comp claim and not warranty. Should it be better designed, most likely, but for now insurance and installing a protective screen is your best bet

Default Condenser Fixed, added protection

After having lost AC with a 6 month old car, I cannot speak more highly of our dealership in Lexington, KY. The dealership not only replaced the condenser, but also installed a grill we bought off Amazon that was recommended in an earlier post. Really satisfied with how they worked with us, even giving us another TX350 as a loaner.
What a service! Thank you Lexus of Lexington.
far exceed our expectations. Hope other dealerships will follow suit with exceptional service. Here is the final look.

grill mesh is a great add on, I had to do it on my 17Carrera S, the radiators are right there with ZERO protection..Now there are aftermarket guys making the fitted screens..I remember Zunnsport.

Zunsport Limited, not for Lexus, but other vehicles. Located in the UK and will do custom orders……...

Nice clean look. Waiting to see if bottom grill mount face can be removed w/o removing entire front grill bumper assembly. Local dealer said maybe not.
Room on top shroud to install behind top grill.
Bottom grill opening looks like a huge shovel to scoop up bouncing rocks into the condenser area…….

Default Was there any charge?

jpuetthoff

Did the dealer charge you for installing your Amazon grill?
Did they do it when they replaced your condenser?
Did they charge you for replacing your condenser?

Today,9-3-2025, my dealer (Jacksonville, FL Lexus) told me that they would not install any non Lexus parts, even if I paid them. That damage to the coil was no worse than a rock or other road debris hitting your windshield. In 50 years of driving, I've never had a windshield broken by road debris.

Took our TX in for first service, spoke w/ Service Mgr. about 3rd row seat retractable cable and front grill screen for rock penetration prevention. He too said they could not install any aftermarket product that was not a “Lexus” item. But did state it would be a good idea to install some type of screen behind the grill so long as it does not impede air flow to condenser.

Default 2nd time it has happened

We must be the “luckiest”…this is the second time this has happened to our 2024 TX. I mean, what are the chances that a rock flies up, through the front grill and hits the condenser?

First time it happened they literally showed us the rock stuck in the condenser grill. We put in a claim with auto insurance (comprehensive covered it) but it still cost us the $500 deductible. At least we weren’t out of pocket the additional $1500.

This morning we brought the car in because the AC stopped working while we were away this past weekend - it’s a good thing the weather has been cool! The repair shop just sent us a photo of a “pinhole” in the condenser. Two times with a similar issue is no longer a coincidence. Seeing multiple other people with the same issue smacks of a design flaw.

We will also file a complaint with NHTSA.
Pinhole circles in red.

solution is to buy/fabricate some form of readily available mesh(wire, aluminum or plastic) to place in front of grill..Had same problem on 17 Porsche CS and bought one online.

just spoke with our dealer in Orlando and they told us the same thing. They will not install aftermarket parts.

Angry

This seems to be a “pin hole” and a mesh screen of tight weave should not reduce air flow into the condenser from what our Stealership Service Mgr said.
Almost need something to deflect incoming projectiles, yet allow airflow to the condenser, almost an open cell foam pad right behind the front grill?
