Default Brake pads

I know there has been threads on this before but maybe there are new options now??
I replaced mine about 5000 miles ago with OEM pads (what a waste of $50)and im about to pull my hair out, im SICK of the damn brake dust on my rims its INSANE ive never owned a car that has it this bad, i wash my car every week and my rims are CAKED in dust every week... I want to get rid of these POS pads ASAP.

Anyone got a suggestion on pads i can use that dont have this issue, dont cost an arm and a leg and dont make noise??

Akebono proact ceramic. Low dust & noise. Shows very little dust on my chrome rims but I don't know if it will show up more on your dark rims? Was there a recall on your pads?

You ordered the wrong OEM pads.

Go here:
http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2006/1886.html

Click on "(low dust) front brake pads"

Install those.

problem solved.

Those are the ones anyone under warranty who complains about brake dust gets for free.

I got mine replaced to dustless under TSB twice. One for my 07, the other for the 08. In about both cases, when I gotten both cars, they came with new pads since it was CPO, but it was the dust ones!!

I'm picking up a 'new' '10 IS350 in a week or so.
Will it have the oem low dust pads due to the TSB's?

Kurtz may need to step in to clarify. If I recall, the post 2009 cars switched over to dustless pads, so you should be fine.

Yeah, supposedly the "official" (ie what they use at the factory) pads switched to the low dust ones sometime mid-production-year on 2009 models, so I'd expect 2010s to come with low-dust pads unless they reversed themselves at some point after that.

As far as I know they never switched to the low dust pads at the factory. 2011's are still coming with the same pads 2006's came with.

(This is from looking at what is listed in the parts catalog, and looking at the amount of brake dust my wheels have on them after a day or two -- a lot).

You refuse to go OEM because you bought the wrong ones the first time?

Not really following that logic, but good luck to ya!

Here's where I got that info from-

2008-09 is the starting production date, which means September, 2008. Of course, that means, 2009 models. GSE20 and GSE25 indicate IS250 RWD,and AWD, respectively. GSE21 indicated IS350. Notice the 04465-30400 part number for the GSE21. It's the same part number that's in the brake dust TSB as the replacement pad. This is the first time this part number has appeared in the IS catalog. 2006-2008 models all had 04465-30410's. Still doing research for the 250.
Here's a shot of the IS350, 2006-2008. Notice the production dates. Aug, 2005 thru Aug, 2008.

So either they changed back after that... or they only changed it for the 350... or they didn't change it in Canada where Jeff is... (or some combination of the above)

Looks like you're right on both. 2009+ models in the USA switched to the low-dust versions, Canada kept using the original high-dust pads.
