4695 battery? Going structural is awesome. Tri-motor seems like overkill and will drive up costs they should reconsider. This is make or break for Rivian I hope it legit enters volume production in Q1 2025.
.....okay I just saw pictures first impressions... not so great.

They also aren't going to radically deviate from the design language of the R1.
Also 0% chance this comes out before Q4 2025 and even that'd be a stretch. Them saying they pulled in the timeline to 1H26 while also building in Normal makes me think the Georgia plant is going to take longer than expected. Maybe slow roll it to save cash to get the R2 up and running

Apparently this came out in the press release:
Shifting production of the R2 from the in-development plant in Georgia to the company’s plant in Normal, Illinois, will save $2.25 billion, Rivian said in a press release. It will also allow the vehicle to begin production earlier, it said.
The company said it will pause construction on the Georgia plant, to be resumed “later.”
I like the R2; would want to better understand the size and proportions. If it's similar interior space to Model Y but slightly higher ride position, I'd be very interested.
