the jacking point is behind the radiator.i jack up the car behind the front wheel and put a stand under a supportive area then release the jack and put it in position behind the radiator which you will see when the cars jacked up.

You need a very low hydraulic jack to access the front point as it sits about 30" back from the front of the bumper. I built a ramp using 2 x 12" with the base at about 24" long and the next level 18" long. Both front edge were cut at a 45 degree angle and a 2 x 2" stop at the end of the top 18" board.

This gives me enough clearance to run my floor jack under the car and visibly certain that my jack is not resting against the oil pan. The jack point sits in front of the oil pan so be careful that you do not jack on the pan itself.

For the front I put the jack on the cross member. You can access it by sliding the jack under the front of the car on its centerline (as viewed from above) and then going all the way back to the end of the splash shield (the big one with 18 screws). It's hidden but if you keep raising the jack you'll see the front end come up easily. For the jackstands if you look below the rocker panels, you'll see section on each side with two small notches. Put the center of the stands between these notches.

For the rear, I put the jack on the pumpkin (or differential housing). Then put the stands between the same two notches near the rocker panel, but at the rear of the car.

This way you can pick up the car one end at a time and slide two jackstands in at a time. I have done the procedure many times with this car and have had no issues.

I have nightmares of meeting my demise by the the car dropping on me, so I am extra paranoid. I will usually put it on the stands and then put the jack under the jacking point so if the stands fail I still have the jack. You can also take the wheels off and shove them under the frame rails so if the car falls it will fall on the tires and not you. Maybe this is overkill, but you can never be too safe in my opinion.

i know figs makes the frame rail support dealios (http://shopfigs.com/v1/index.php?rou...product_id=188). and it looks like you need 4 to hold the car properly while its jacked up.

is there a cheaper alternative? I don't mind spending the money, although if I can spend less money, an get something similar, I am going to do that.

I bought something like this:

http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/automotive/auto-repair-tools/garage-tools/lifting-equipment/certified-3-ton-jack-kit-0091055p.html?utm_campaign=bazaarvoice&utm_medium=Default&utm_source=AskAndAnswer&utm_content=Default

In Canada these go on sale periodically for $99.99 for the jack and 2 stands. These are beefy and probably overkill. I never jack all four corners only two at a time and never have any problem.

You don't need a frame rail kit, the area to the sides of the thin plastic fin near the jack stand points is frame rail and very strong.
