You Tube SC430 door panel removal. It will help with the two hidden screws. I did not find an exact one but did see similar videos that will help you.
One triangular speaker trim piece. Seven screws: 3 along the bottom, one behind the trim piece hiding behind door release, one under window switches, two on the latch side. Two push button clips, leather color, hinge side. Then start at the bottom working out the retaining plug clips. Then, tilt out from the bottom and lift straight up.

Regarding the speaker, you may have remove it IF there is nothing obvious. It will be of interest to see if the interior plastic (protects the inside of the door void is still in place).
I have ave been thinking more about this and I doubt the ECU has failed they are resilient. The ECU is mounted so the modular plugs are on the bottom making it nearly impossible for water to penetrate. I suspect the wiring harness more do to the intermittent nature, a close inspection is warranted. It’s going to be frustrating so patience is necessary as you test and replace going slowly.
I was going to start last evening, however after having one Martini that would not be good;-) You probably are correct on the ECU! As said, this process of finding the culprit will be challenging! Also when I got home from work, I tested the keyless entry, and it worked. OK, Door Test again, after opening and closing door 6 times.....the System stoped working. So the good, you have helped me big time Isolate the fault to the Driver Door!

Thank YOU!

So as I mentioned before I was thinking about the intermittent behavior. While there can be many causes, one, a loose ground wire, is a good suspect. Read through this thread in our forum. The two PDFs are great sources of info, the diagram with four doors not so much. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...the-sc430.html and https://www.clublexus.com/forums/att...e-elecpath.pdf Closely inspect the battery cables, and connections points. Since you mentioned a previous service inside the door panel and there is a ground point there it’s worth look. Poor grounds cause havoc with our systems.

While the wireless system is intermittent and not working, it would be best to see if a DTC is generated.

Wow, to grounding locations.......If all else fails, I have a Tech scheduled for next Thursday. I talked with that shop, they said they have a Electric Guru that is a walking Encyclopedia.
All your notes and Diagrams I have printed out! I will bring them to that Repair Shop to help save Labour $$ on Diagnostics!

Thanks Again a Ton!

Grounding points for the wireless door lock control are in the following locations:
  1. LH side of the steering column - theft deterrent ECU
  2. Under the steering column -
  3. Under the Driver’s seat - driver’s door ECU,
  4. Quarter Panel Rear RH side - passenger door ECU

Default Update on my 2003 SC430

Car was taken to a local Foreign Auto Specialist, he has 6 Techs and himself in his Shop, he is working on my Car. I gave him all the documentation that Bob VVTi posted.........The owner said he will figure out why my Car Wireless Signal is not talking with the Car! (He also said may take some time) SC was dropped off Wednesday, I stopped by Thursday afternoon to get an update. They have checked Grounds all good, Parasitic Draws...None, He inspected the Dome Light in the Headliner ok there. He found one code, forgot to ask for the number, however Tech saw with his own eyes~~the Nav Door open on its own, he also said the Telescoping Steering Wheel did not move up! He cleared that Code and Wireless communication still does not work, however Nav Door and Steering Wheel now work again. I find it amazing how one device can make the car go so wacky! I guess that is why they call it a modular system.

Monday they are going to take the Rear View Mirror and inspect the interior down to component level parts with a Magnifying Glass! Bad solder joint? Bad Cap? etc... Most repair shops would not go that deep, Lexus would just say replace the whole Mirror, at 1150.00 just for the part! IF it turns out the part is not repairable, he can get a used one, I told him they are on E-bay for 100.00 or less.

BobVVTi, I believe you said the Antenna/Rear View Mirror Receiver could be the culprit, since that component sends signal to Wireless Security System after invoking the KeyFob. Tech told me that when he was inside car, Door lock system works manually and wireless security light cycles properly from solid light to blinking light. On a different note, I saw a 350Z anniversary edition that some kid blew up his engine for not putting oil in his car, the Engine and Transmission was removed, I said to myself, if they can do that, they can fix my SC.

I thought there was some pictures of what the interior of the Rear View Mirror looks like? Anybody have any pictures to post?

Thanks for all your support in this fiasco!

Bob

just noticed this issue on my 06 IS350
after an automatic car wash drive through, my driver side's keyless entry stopped working while the remote would still work.
I also noticed that, after a car wash, if i roll down the window then roll it back up, the window would be wet.

yikes

Default Can't make it up!

Update on my Electrical issue, Tech took rear view mirror apart, they checked component parts on the boards and could not find a fix. They believed it was the Mirror, so they ordered and installed it, still same issue, no wireless operation, Car is doing what originally happened, (A/C Control Panel front Display is on with Car in Off position).

Now they are going too check the TPS Monitor System Module since some wire/module in that area relates to Mirror/Receiver. Tech mentioned that the Can-Bus on this SC430 is a very large Network! Car is confused and will not go to sleep~~ now I am getting discouraged and costing me big time!

BobVVTi, I told them to review your notes............I printed out all in this Thread!!!! I believe they have TechStream since he mentioned he has all the Diagrams of the Network!

So that's it, back to ground Zero! No answers and they are working to find the cure?

Any more thoughts or idea's?

Thanks
Bob

I would ask them specifically if they have techstream. If it is a cann network issue, getting an ACTUAL readout is much more useful than seeing how the system could give you a readout.

After 1week, Car is still in the Shop. When I first dropped of the car, they told me it could take some time! I know they have replaced the Mirror, that did not work! They have Tech-Stream and other high end Diag. equipment!
On my own, I purchased from various sources potential replacement parts under 200.00 to help save time and money.

Driver Door MPX ECU
Security System ECU
Inside rear view Mirror
Driver Door Wire Harness

All these parts are potential culprits in my wireless operation not working. As of Friday, I have not heard anything, I keep reminding myself they said it could take time. This shop knows their Car's and does repairs others do not want to take on with Integrity!

Getting excited and concerned that the problem is buried somewhere? Cost $$$$$ I have no clue what this bill will be like! I purchased the 03 SC430 with 14,500 miles, currently she has 18K miles and if they don't find the problem, I may just dump the Car, however I really do not want to go down that route!

When and if they resolve, I will post any findings to help others who may have a similar problem!

You could sell it. I think many people would be interested, even if the remote door locks are flakey.

This is not a route I foresee you taking, but the new buyer could just put an aftermarket alarm on it and call it a day.
