OK kids. What's next. I have a nice old powerful Laptop with fresh Windows XP load.
I have a cable that came with a V13 CD that the CD player cant read. Maybe it's the mini disc format. The cable might work with the V12 I'm hoping.

Version 13 is the one a number of folks have said to avoid because of the problems with it.

Where did you get the cable from? Maybe you can contact them. Often times they have a download site for the drivers

Paul,

Just download Ver 12 from link that BGW provided. It’s patched and cracked. Installation is straight forward.

Discover what TechStream has offered. You’ll like it.

Thank You Sir. I have been so busy lately its rediculas. Just picked up an 03 GS430 on Saturday. After turning over cash, signing title etc, took the key. Didn't think anything of it. But a couple of minutes later, I asked for the other key. The wireless key. Oh, we don't have those was the response. So, I have one standard key and will have to send my ECU in to get a couple of keys made. No master, nothing to clone. 🤪 Its OK. The GS is way cheaper than the SC for parts.

Paul, you may be okay…just use TechStream to program the other keys using the valet key…then program the door locks…remember, it’s two different parts…hope this makes sense without going into detail….
NOTE: erase everything in the car with TechStream first…

What do you mean by standard key? If you can start the car, that all you need. Buy the blank keys from Amazon or EBay, have them cut by local Locksmith then program it using TechStream. Like BGW said, there are two steps for programming: the keyless entry and the immobilization function. It’s straight forward.

I use Techstream ver12.10.019 on Windows 10 Home 64-bit on a fairly cheap 2020 Lenovo laptop. I connect to the SC using a VCX Nano PW880 ($85). I chose this unit because it can program the old TPMS sensors, while the cheaper under-$30 units cannot. I go to technical school and the $10k Snap-on standalone PC unit and a bunch of other handhelds couldn't even read them, let alone program them. The school did have equipment that can detect signals from the sensors without interfacing with the car so I was able to find the two dead ones (but not their colors). After a lot of research I ordered the VCX Nano and it works great. Using it and Techstream I was able to turn off the yellowish daytime running lights and up the auto-relock time from 30 to 60 seconds. The car was always relocking itself before I could finish loading stuff in the trunk. To me, those two things alone were worth the cost of the unit. I also bought a 10-foot shielded USB cable for $6 off Amazon to make it easier to move the laptop around the car and a $10 pistol case to store the unit in, so about $100 total.

I haven't tried programming the new TPMS sensors yet because I'm waiting to transfer a good set of Michelins over to new rims in a couple weeks. The unit I bought didn't come with the Toyota software (a lot of cheaper ones do) but you can find numerous versions of it on VXDiag's website.

Before using Windows 10 natively, I tried using a VM-Ware image of Windows XP with TechStream 12.20.024 on it. It loaded fine but had no USB connectivity. The VCX nano will supposedly work over wifi as well as USB but that was just another step I didn't want to mess with. I also tried every version of Techstream available from a notorious website whose logo is a ship sporting a skull and bones flag. None of them worked for me but I think that was because in the early stages of trying to get this to work, I wasn't loading the PassThru app inside the VX Manager program.

After a lot of trial an error, what worked for me (and reads color-coded TPMS) was Windows 10 x64 --> plug in VCX Nano --> load VX Manager (the software for the unit) --> from there, start the PassThru app (handshake / signal interpreter?) --> start Techstream --> success! It also works on an RX350.

my v1.4.1 $25 unit programmed the TPMS sensors and keys on my 2002.
it also let me test and control many of the ECUs…like, door lock actuators, windows, headlights etc.

thanks for sharing the information about the PW880.
I have/had an old XP machine but I was recently introduced to a virtual machine setup on a 64bit Win10, now Win11 laptop.

My Cable Ver 2.04 with Ver 13 software (which I dumped and replaced with Ver 12) cost 54 bucks and is worth every penny.

Thanks for all especially BGW and SCMan, I used TS a few years ago using Win7 32, then cannot login, then I installed Win10 and tried to install it again, it says needs IE. But Win10 automatically updated to edge and no way to remove it before I can install IE. I still own an old J2534 that worked.
So, for V12 BGW given, can it be used with Win10 32bit with Edge? What is cheapest J2534 that has TMPS? SCMan where you buy the J2534?
Download new s/w seems painful often be blocked by Win10. Is it free to register on TS site and can get free download?
If you use simulator on WIn10, which version and name?
thanks for help.

Unless you install it on VM, it will not work with Win 10 without registra edit and files swap. The easiest way is buy the old laptop with XP or Win 7. The vendor that I purchased the cable from is no longer in service, unfortunately. If you have a pre-06 SC, older cable is OK.
