Default Sc430 modifications

Anyone know where I can take my 2004 sc430 to get modifications in ontario canada? Someone with experience modifying these cars. Had enough of the quiet comfy ride. Looking for a little noise and power. Much appreciated!

There is virtually no aftermarket improvements that you want. Many have said that a cold air intake definately helps with the sound, but the oem intake can already supply more air than the engine could ever use. And you can pretty easily install one yourself.
Muffler deletes are popular as well. But very very little in the performance improvement. ECU remap maybe. That could help kick her up a notch. I'm in California so none of that is possible because of the laws here. Good luck in whatever you decide. Definately hit the LS430 forum too.

C’mon Paul, Cold air intakes and muffler deletes register extremely well on this dyno ;-)

Speed academy put out a utube video where they put a ford terminator supercharger from an 03 cobra in an ls430( same engine). Easily sourced blower, intake plenum and other bits plus remapped ecu. Add in custom exhaust and your looking at roughly 120 or or so extra hp. Sure it will all run about $8000 to $9000 with the labor but you can't get any car close to this for the same money even if I were to budget $15000 what other car could I get for that so I see it as viable. Just need a shop to do the work, my schedule is full and my discovery 2 rebuild is occupying my lift for the next 4 months or so. So any one know of a good jdm.shop in Ontario?

The cheapest and easiest power mod that you can feel is ECU remapping.

Nice cars. Not really made to be a race car. Anything can be done I suppose. Love to have my ls460 engine in our sc430. I wonder if it would fit?

I had a million years ago a 58 corvette that went from a 292 to a 330 to a 427cubic inch engine in a 2750 pound car with the 427.

150 plus in third gear with 3:08 gears. Been there.

a tesla model S is faster. No it’s not a convertible lexus.

still wonder about the LS in a SC

No disrespect, but I laugh when someone brings up the tesla. Yes it's a 9 sec car but who cares if it does the quarter in 2 seconds it's like sitting in a commuter train, no engagement whatsoever. My cousin has the plaid and i thought i was in one of those high speed trains in asia, close my eyes and wake me up when we get there. Really care about the drive. Not really tracking the car anyways.

i agree. No engagement. Trying to make a sc fast is sort of the same thing IMO. PERFECT package from lexus. I had a conversation with Steve at luxury motorcars who worked on these when new to make them better. Faster. Remote operation. He won’t even hardly talk about it as the results and failures were painful. Turbo’s. Superchargers. Nitrous.

Leaned out cylinders. Snapped rods. Fugly. He flat out wants nothing to do with sc430 engine mods.

i believe him

as usual when i hot rod a car I do suspension and brakes and tires first.

Figured out the car was perfectly engineered like a nasa build. Every part matched its use exactly. Then over built to last forever if serviced.

if you greatly change the tire sizes enough to alter the speedo will the traction control and stability control still work safely. Increase the braking? Will the abs work correctly?

I found an aftermarket windshields tint did not match our ls 460 air conditioner design. Dash got too hot in hot weather with the sun coming in the windshield. Aftermarket glass had much less IR and UV Rejection. Different tint also. Constantly had to manually turn up the fan speed to try to overcome the added heat gain.

Replaced the windshield with an oem lexus one and have not had to manually adjust the ac since.

the whole car is the same depth of engineering. Way past us shade tree guys I’m afraid. Every part. Every system. Every system as it relates to every other system.

how many here noticed the ac issue with aftermarket windshields I noticed and fixed? If you make the motor faster you need more brakes and tighter suspension first.

when you have more car than motor go ahead.

So in goes the 2jz, won't be quiet, won't be smooth but it will be 700 hp, topless. and manual. I'll put the 3uf on the stand and tinker with it. Drove it long enough for the grand tourer it was meant to be got to give it wings now. Keep you guys posted on the swap.

love the idea but in the peoples republic of Kalifornia it would not pass smog. Saw a 69 charger street racer with a new complete hemi with all the smog stickers on it.

sure a ls would not fit?

Not familiar with " smog stickers " our Premier of ontario ( think of him as a governor of a state ) eliminated emissions tests. first thing people did was punch out their cats or go straight pipe.
