Hey FirstLexy, I'm in Ontario too. Kingston to be exact. Anyway, I know there are those that do mod the SC 430, but why ruin a good thing. Now, if you want to mod something, I have a 2005 Porsche 997 Carrera for sale that will accept all sorts of tuning and mods and go a hell of a lot faster and handle a whole lot better than any SC.

I was not aware of this pitfall when I had to replace my windshield, but I insisted on Lexus-stamped glass because of all of the other engineering that goes into it. Now that I know your experience, it confirms my bias. Plus, I'm a snob who wants to keep my copy as original as possible!

I hear what your saying about the Porsche. It's a question of where my cars fit in my line up, I have an lc 500 being delivered in a couple months so that takes care of a GT car, not really a tire shredder or anything but a nice cruise which is what my wife is into so I figure the old GT ( sc430 ) will be the street toy that my son and I will enjoy. We were supposed to budget time to do the project together but we both have full schedules so I'm sourcing out that job. To tell you the truth I'm allowed (wife) 1 more toy and that last stall is for a Pantera that I'll begin shopping for in the fall.

A 2JZ swap is the way to go for power instead of a risky tuner chip and superficial intake and exhaust modifications. For most cars, I'd say you have to be very careful with suspension mods since you don't have the engineering prowess of the folks that designed the car. With the SC430, the factory suspension tuning is not great. It is too stiff over bumps and the body rolls in the corners. It's great on a smooth highway, but that's about it.

OK, when am I going to hear about that 2JZ swap. I am planning that and have a garage that says they can do it and the complete engines with tranny are under $7k but want to hear someone elses story before I jump in with both feet.

1) Where does the 700HP number come from. My research shows the 2JZ to be less than 300HP?
2) The video mentions "single" turbo, But other places say "twin turbo". is that because the single is actually two stacked turbos or was there a version with two separate turbos?
