Default Cranking issues

Does anyone else have issues starting the car when it's cold. Sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 tries to crank the car. Wondering if I am the only one or not

Try this,
Turn the key to the on position
wait five seconds
turn off
Wait one second
Turn key on again
Wait five seconds
Turn key to start.

Post results! Any change?

What is the condition of your battery? I use a battery tender to top off the battery, but before I did so I would get hard starts in the cold. Since our cars are prone to parasitic battery drain, seems like your problem might be your battery. Have you used a battery tender? It's a great gadget, just hook it up with permanent plug..

Can you elaborate? Does the starter motor not turn when you turn the key? Does it just turn slowly? Does it turn normally but the engine won't start? Each symptom has a different cause.

My guess, would be the battery. SC's are notorious for battery consumption. I had the same problem with my 2002 and had to change the battery no problems now. Autozone or any other chain parts store will do a battery and alternator check for free. It's a good place to start the diagnosis of the problem.

No problems starting my car when it is cold, as long as the battery is good. (When the battery is bad, it just doesn't start.)

Agreed - also consider battery related issues like a loose ground, or loose connections at the battery. But cranking issues brought on by cold weather almost always turns out to be a battery on its way out.

I bought the car about 7 months ago from another member here. He said that he just recently replaced the battery before I bought it. I got an aftermarket alarm installed and I can see the batteries voltage on my remote. When I try to crank it and had issues I see it around 11.6 volts. That took about ten attempts before it started. I have not been paying attention to my voltage before this. So this has happened about 3 times already. On the 3rd time which was 11.6 volts. I have been checking it frequently and its been at 12.4-12.7 volts. While the car is running it will be at around 15.6 volts. I will try and swap out a dry cell battery from my other car and see what happens.

It might be easier if you jump start your car...if you have cables.

A battery tender is a trickle charging battery charger. Some of them are continuous and others monitor the battery and shut off when appropriate. The intent of using a battery tender is for cars that just sit for extended periods of time and the battery runs down. The tender keeps the battery charged (at a very low charge rate).

My car starts It's just once in a while it has this issue. I meant try swapping the batteries and driving with it for a while and see. Also to check the voltage

Isn't this the battery charger that plugs into the wall outlet? If so I have this.
