I don't know of many choices beyond Lexus/Toyota OEM; and KYB. I put on KYB's - no issues

OEM's run about $127 and KYB's around $97 each. Or you could go with adjustable coilovers and call it a day

at that point I would go with coilovers and improve the ride, labor would be the same cost.

+1 coilovers for sure...probably end up being same price and will add some well needed sportiness to your stock car, better handling, stance/looks,etc.

I have Megan LP Streets and love them. Changed the way my car felt completely. You can adjust 32 different ways! As far as staying stock, I would just get the Lexus OEM or cheapest best performing, considering you are not lowering the car or stiffening. I've had KYB before on cars and really liked them if they make one for the SC

Hi robert,

Not to brag but I've installed a few sets of shocks over the years and most are just a couple of bolts each & no new alignment.

I too have changed some shocks in my day. (also not to brag), but I think we have struts, and to change these strut (shock) parts you will need to use something to compress the springs, or take it somewhere that can compress the spring and then change out the strut and tighten it back up. Also there are some settings for the rear and I would guess for the front also that if you don't put them back to the previous setting you will need to get it aligned. I would guess that it would be a good idea for an alignment whichever way you go. They also have what they (I think) are called quick struts, where you just drop the strut with springs and install new strut/w spring already installed. No need to take apart. The guy told me about them, when he changed my springs and put in lowering springs. He said they were a bear to get changed.

I just did my front struts with KYBs. Pretty simple. Yes, after you take out the strut/spring unit you'll need a spring compressor to disassemble the unit and reassemble with the new strut. Straightforward and as always, use a good quality compressor. Make sure you have a long breaker bar (I needed a 5 foot pipe!) for the bottom bolt - that baby is mucho torqued at the factory. Followed up with new tires so a 4-wheel alignment was a must. Anyone know if there are simple mods so you can dial out the negative camber?

Couldn't find quick-struts for this car??

Haven't had to do the rears yet, so I can't comment on that job - but getting to the top of the unit isn't as simple as opening the hood! (Some nice pix on threads here documenting coil-over installations).
