Default Replacing Battery

I plan to take out my battery and replace it with a new one this weekend.

Anything I need to do, set, or know before I disconnect the old battery and install the new one?

Thanks!

I replaced mine with no real plan, and had no problems. Just have the wrenches that you need, and be careful with those little nuts and bolts that hold down the battery. Other than that, it's out with the old and in with the new. I think the whole thing took me about 15 minutes.

All you have to do is remove the terminal post nuts which are 10mm and then remove the battery clamp which are also 10mm. There are sometimes power and ground plastic clamps on the side of the plastic cover. You can pop them off with a flathead screwdriver. Just be careful not to loose the threaded metal bar behind the battery that sucks.

Default battery type

What battery type did you all get? I hear that Walmart batteries for our SC430 had great reviews.

Hi rclab1,

A member here said they got a battery from Costco and gave me the size but at my 2 local Costcos, the size is nowhere to be found so I haven't bought a battery yet.

I will look into Walmart batteries, do you have a link to the reviews?

Thanks!

Guys the key is in the CCA. You want to at or above the oe rating. And you want to stay in the same group size. This information can be found on top of the battery.

Default Replacing battery

My Walmart in NC didn't have a replacement battery. I looked in the catalogue myself to make sure. Its listed but blank for a part number. I'd like to know what part number someone has.

I put a Sears Diehard in mine. It has a 3 year full replacement warrenty (prorated after that). It was going down at 2 1/2 years and they just replaced it for free a couple of weeks ago. So I should get a good 5 years out of the one purchase, though it took two batteries to get there. I had no problems with it other than that.

I used the OEM BOSCH battery. But if I had to do it over again I would of got an Optima battery. The car has so many electronics and the OEM battery is a little weak.
