Default dang cops

I swear I never got tickets with my former cars (BMW and Porsche included).. I just got my 3rd ticket this morning for (failure to yield).. My first ticket was doing 80 in a 55, my second was going through a red light (it was yellow), and now this crap...

Cops must really dislike the SC430 drivers?

Hmmm ... I wonder if having a RED car has anything to do with that. The law just loves to follow drivers of red sports cars until they do something wrong. Were your previous cars red?

I've been driving sports cars and "sporty" cars for 48 years and got five speeding tickets. I got four of the five tickets during the five years I had a red sports car and all four tickets were for exceeding the speed limit by only10 mph.

Chris - It's very possible that once you were entered in "The Computer" for the 80 mph in a 55 mph zone, it causes the Officers to take the "worst case scenario" attitude towards you on every other situation the follows within a given time limit. This could also be the case in the event that all of these "Infractions" occured within the same juristiction for the Patrolling Officers.

The "Rule of Thumb" here in the Midwest seems to be, that if your Speed is in Excess of 20 mph over the Posted Limit and / or at 80 mph or above, you're really asking them to throw the book at you!

If I thought that I was on someone's "Compost" List, or in the their Computer File as a "Frequent Taffic Violator", I'd make sure that the next time that I was pulled over, to use the utmost caution not to offend the Officer, and cooperate with them fully, and in a most Courtuous mannner: Windows Down; Emergence Flasers On; Interior Lights On; Audio Off; Registration, License, and Proof Of Insurance already in your Left hand and with both Hands on the Steering Wheel; Glove Box and Storage Counsole Open For Inspection. Your "Body"language is then one of Comfort, Calm, and totally Non-Threatening, and Non-Beligerent to the Investigating Officer(s), as they approach your Vehicle.

To keep your Insurance Rates from going to the ceiling, or worse yet, to be dropped by your carrier, consider having your friendly attorney work out a "Deferred Citation" with either the County Prosicuting Attorney, or the Judge of the Court that you have been directed to Appear and Plead before.

Here in Indiana, with the Deferral Progam, you pay the Fine / Associated Court Costs, but if your Driving Record throughout the State remains Clear for 6 Months, the Case is dropped, without having any record of the Arrest / Citation entered into the BMV Computer. This means that every 6 months that your Insurance Company checks the BMV on your Driving Record (it only costs them 0.50 to do that), there is no record, and no incentive for them to raise your Premiums, or consider dropping you, because your "Profile" indicates that you are a High Risk to their year end profits.

Good Luck in the future!

I saw a television program once. Red cars recieve more tickets then any other color. the car that recieved the least amount of tickets is a Volvo, but im sure all of us will take a ticket now or then in place of driving a Volvo.

Also just because you got 3 tickets doesnt automatically mean its the car. Chance just may have something to do with it.

Default NOT SPEEDING.. and RED

I did NOT get a speeding ticket in my RED SC430, I got a 'failure to yield' ticket.. and before that I got one for running a red light (which was yellow). NOT FOR SPEEDING...

As far as RED goes... my previous car was a RED Z3 (never stopped) and before that was a RED Porsche (ALSO NEVER STOPPED)... and before that a RED VW

I happen to like red and it never got this kind of attention before so what gives?

Maybe because it is a Japanese car instead of a German car?

Right Dude - Maybe it's because you were driving a "Japanese Car" @ 85 mph, in a 55 Mile Zone.............................................

Give "Mr. Obvious" a call sometime.

Default Solo's Radar Detector / Jammer

Solo,

In regards to speeding tickets....Didn't you mention in a previous post (couple of months ago) that you had a radar detector/jammer that could prevent getting nabbed?

What was that unit? And is it still working for you? Would you recommend it?

(I've sent a PM to you in this regard as well)

Thanks in advance.

DZ - The Unit is a Phantom Radar Detector & Scrambler, manufactured by ROCKY MOUNTAIN RADAR, El Paso, Texas, 79932. However, you can save even more money on the Internet, by shopping around for other Venders than the actual Manufacturer.

For my 3,000 mile round trip fom Indy to Sarasota ealier this month, I relied more on that than my ESCORT 8500, as it proved just as reliable, and with less False alarms. Plus, if I encounterd a "Real Threat", it would send out a False Reading on their own equipment.

For "Extreme Driving" at High Speeds, Count on it. However, for "Everyday Driving" around town, the ESCORT 8500 is hard to beat. It looks cool, it "cooks" during tricky driving maneuvers, and is very well designed and manufactured.

Whichever one will offer you a Free 30 day Trial, to let you check things out, Go For It!

Good Luckl

LexusSC430,

I read a report with differing information. The report I read mentioned that white cars get more tickets, at least in California.

On another note:

I have gotten two tickets since buying my Sc400(black)

Actual Speed / Cited Speed

82mph in 65 zone / 75mph (Two weeks ago, sigh)

125mph in 65 zone / 80mph (Couple years ago, got lucky)

I agree I deserved the 60 miles over the limit one but the 82?!!!
