You be the judge: What's a fair price?
OK, I'm interested in everyone's opinion as to a FAIR price for the following SC430. When I say FAIR, I mean a price which is good for the DEALER and good for the buyer. In other words, imagine you were a judge sitting with a black robe on the bench and had to take the interests of both sides into account in coming up with a price.
And, yes, I know dealer prices are higher due to their prep and carrying costs. Take that into account.
HERE'S THE CAR:
2006 SC 430
One owner
7,220 miles
Smokey Granite Mica
Black interior (fetches a premium here on the East Coast for some reason)
Outstanding condition
BUT:
CarFax has "Crash Damage Alert"
BUT:
Repair receipts indicate a tear on the rear bumper cover, which was replaced. I talked with the former owner (long story how I found her) and she said she was sitting at a stop sign when she got tapped from behind. The damage was a small slit near the license plate, which her daughter said was hardly noticeable but the woman decided to have repaired anyway. This woman volunteers full-time at a church and sounded truthful. Plus, since she's already sold the car, she has no reason to shade anything. She sold because she decided she was too "invisible" in the SC430 in traffic and got a Hummer instead (that made me laugh).
Anyway, what would be a FAIR price if you were a judge, whereby the interests of the dealer and buyer were accounted for?

KBB:
Trade-in 49.750
Private Party: 54,210
Suggested Retail 58,800
Edmunds:
Trade-in 49,941
Private 52,954
Dealer Reatil 55,564
I wasn't sure whether the CarFax "crash" would change things.

Even though she works at a church and has no interest in being deceptive, I wouldn't necessarily trust what she said, but for the fact that the repair docs totally back her up. So, yeah, take that as true.

I just purchased an '06 SC430 in Smoky Granite Mica/Camel w/ 4,400 miles for $55k + change. Absolutely no damage. It looks like it just rolled out of the showroom. Hope that helps.

Please, what is a fair selling price for my car?
Hi guys,
Please help. I have been wanting to sell my sc430 for a while now. Do you think I should let it go for $33k?
It is a 2002
Indigo Blue/Black Interior
37k Miles
Wald Kit
Blitz Exhaust
Injen Intake
Brabus 20" wheels
Brand new Toyo Tires
Do you think I should let it go for $33K? I am worried that I am letting it go for to cheap, or should I be happy to get that much?
Thanks, Mike

Mike,
In my experience watching a lot of modified Lexus be sold, you will never get anything beyond a small premium over what a stock car would sell for.
If you want a larger percentage of your 'investment' back, take the aftermarket stuff off and sell it independent of the car.

Thanks guys for the advice. I already have it 'run til it sells' at autotrader and I check out kbb.com all the time. I guess I just wanted some outside opinions. I think its best to leave the mods on there b/c I have a few buyers who are interested. I guess I will take $33k for it but still not sure if I should even sell it at all. I am broke these days and had to move to a condo without a garage. I will probably just let it go for 33k.
Thanks, Mike

I would hook up Henry if I could but I think my buyer wants the exhaust. Sorry about that. I will let you know if there is any change.
