Default Squeeking help!!

After my car sits for a day or longer, I start my engine and I hear this high pitch sqeeking sound from the belt area. So yesterday, I got myself a can of WD-40 and sprayed the belt area thinking that it was lack of lubrication. However, when I started car this morning, it was even louder!!
And now, the squeeking is present throught all rpm.
What could be the potential problem?? My car is 02 w/ 39000 miles.

Help!

It's your belts, try some real Belt lube designed for belts, not WD-40. If it still continues, see a mechanic.

Could be a pulley. I would have it checked out as soon as you can.

sorry to bring this thing up from 2years ago, but I searched and my car has this problem. I had my Serpentine Belt replaced about one year ago, so I know its not that Belt. Its really been cold up here in the NorthEast, and I did not start up my car for 2 days. When I started it, it made a really loud high pitch squeeking noise. I know its the belts, but I don't know which one. After driving it for a couple miles, the squeeking noise slightly went down, but I can tell its still there when you listen to the engine bay area!

is it just a "re grease" the belts kind of fix? or replace the whole belt system?

p.s. the sound sounds like a really old car after just being motor started.

Don't think you want to grease the belts my friend.

belts squeak when they're slipping. i would think grease would only make the problem worse. when they're cold, they'll get hard and tend to slip until they warm up. my car does it if the AC is on when i start it. but it doesn't do it if i wait a couple minutes to turn on the fan.

There is only one belt. It could be a belt change, belt dressing or worst case, belt tensioner.

The high pitch sqeeking sound is the belt slipping, WD-40 made it slip even more, that's why it is louder now and present throught all rpm.

I don't know how you can get rid of the WD-40, but normally when the belt slip, that means it is not tight enough.

Well, that's that. We're talking a belt change now. You'll never get that oil out of the belt. The rubber will absorb it.

The bigger question is how to get it off the pulleys. You need to get something like simple green to get rid of that oil or the next one will do the same thing.

Try to spray a little on the belt first.
If the noise is gone, it is most likely you need a new belt.

The oem serpentine belt sucks, I had replced it twice already. The third time, I went with GoodYear Gator belt.
I posted a DIY thread a couple years ago. It shouldn't take you more than 20 minutes to change it.
The Gator belt belt was less than $40 at that time I bought it at AutoZone.

I searched and couldn't find that thread. Would you be kind to give me the link? I really would like to see how that is done.

Thanks ahead
