Nav Question

Nav Question
Before i got this SC i drove several other cars while i was shopping.
i noticed that one of the other cars had the NAV indicator blinking and one did not.
the car i bought happens to have the blinking indicator.
does anyone know what this means? i didnt get any NAV manual with this car.

um, i don't understand, what blinking? where? on the nav screen?

yes, the indicator that represents the cars location the map blinks every two seconds or so.
i take it your doesnt blink?
do you have a manual for the NAV?
could you look up the problem for me?

oh that triangle thing positioning your car? umm, mine never blinks. i dn't have the car nor the manual with me, but i will try to ask my wife and see if she can take a look at the manual.

oh btw, you can go to lexus.com, sign up, and actually receive a free copy of the manual

thanks i didnt know that.
i have the books form the car but there is no manual for the NAV system.
i am assuming that there is a secondary manual just for the NAV

Well i signed up and i have read through the nav manual and i cant find anything about the blinking postion indicator.
i know its not supposed to blink because i have driven other SC's that dont.
anyone else experience this?

** Update **
I updated the nav disk to the latest version hoping that the software update would change something.
so far i still have the blinking position indicator
could you guys reply to this thread and tell me if yours blinks or not?
there must be a reason.

Also updated to latest version of Nav DVD. No blinking of position indicator before or after update. Ask the dealer to fix it under warranty.

if it was under warranty i would, i could ask the service writer if he could ask a tech and see if they has a reason.
there must be a reason, althought the nav works perfectly otherwise

Is there anything special you need to do to update from first generation (2002 SC430) navigation? Are there any more functions or is it just more streets that are listed?

i didnt notice any other functionality but the maps are a lot more detailed and they look better.
plus the additional map data is nice. my house is on this disk which is cool.
