I am curious to know how long a new battery will last in a 2005 SC430?
Mine was replaced maybe 3 years ago, and it is completely dead already!
In the winter I keep it on a battery tender since I rarely drive it in the cold snowy weather. I never put the battery tender on it in the summertime because I drive it at least once or twice a week (sometimes more). But should I keep it charged up in the summer also?
Is 3 years about the right length of time you are getting? I thought you could get 4 to 5 years on a new battery, but I know this car seems to drain the battery quickly when not driven all the time.
Thank you!

3years is the warranty on a premium battery like a Duralast Gold. 36 months isn’t unusual, they aren’t as well made as they use to be. But obviously it depends on the battery and the type of life it’s lived. Do you know the brand? And when u purchased it? It could still be under the free replacement warranty.

I read on another forum somebody that did have the infamous parasitic battery draw/drain (not saying you do) that got a lifetime warranty battery from Toyota and has had no problems since and it’s been over a year on.
They probably have them at Lexus dealership as well.
They are pricey, but worth it.

I've never used a battery tender, but 3/4 years is about what I average before needing a new battery

When I changed my battery last year, I put a 12vdc power supply on the leads so I wouldn't lose any settings.
I was very surprised to see that the sacrificial draw from the car was 120 milliAmps. That's a lot.
Looking back at the service history for my car, the battery (and tires) we're the most frequent issues with the car.
So, I would think 3-4 years works probably be about right.

I want to thank everyone for the replies! This site is so useful.
I tend to get pretty long battery life - looking at 5-7 years on the SC as long as I do not leave the car parked outside in the cold when not in use. I am pretty religious about putting it on a battery tender even when I am not driving it for 3-4 days. These $35- $40 Deltran Junior battery tenders are so totally worth it if I do not have to buy a $100-150 battery every three years. One reason I got religion on battery tenders: one of my older cars from a less reliable OEM still has the original battery from the factory - that would be 12+ years on the original factory battery from Sindelfingen Germany. Whenever I am diligent about battery tender time, I tend to get no strange electronic gremlins in that older German car. And when I fail to regularly give it tender time, all manner of warnings show up randomly. Certain cars just want a strong battery - less headache for the owner that way. And the added upside is no need to spend the $$ on a new battery. The SC currently has a Costco Interstate that is several years past its warranty and I see no indication that it will need to be replaced soon.

I got 6 years out of my Duracell AGM battery in my 2006 SC. I now have the same battery in my 2010 LS460L.
