So i was running through my cars maintenance which i had to do 100 and 1 things to make it comfortable and safe to drive, I am at the point where i needed to replace the starter and was just about to button everything back up when i realized two issues i had to address the knock sensor wiring which had no covering or insulation around it and when i was removing the old starter I accidentally pulled the wire from the knock sensor, no big deal i ordered a whole new wire harness piece and knock sensors with proper insulation. the other was this freaking piece that as you can see i broke when i was trying to pull of the vacuum line from it, does anyone know where i can order it? or is there a Toyota substitute that will work on our cars, i got an 02 sc430, this is the elusive part which i need to fix my vehicle and get it up and running. thanks for everyone's time and help.
well im in America and for that part number i got one hit on ebay for a used $150 part. there aren't that many floating around here hence why I had to order one from another toyota vehicle.
This is NOT an exact match for the part number, but it is a vacuum switching valve that looks like it will fit. Obviously part numbers mean something, so buy at your own risk.
They make a name brand switching valve, but it doesn't look like it has mounting holes
jesus $132 for a non-genuine toyota part, thanks i'll pass if i didnt aready order the genuine toyota from the other car i would go with the 30 something dollar one. I can't believe this stupid freaking 1/2 plastic tube is costing me so much(time/ effort/ money). smh, Im not opposed to spending money when necessary but this seems a little much. I already bought a new battery, new gaskets for the intake manifold, brakes, rotors, tires, wheels, and this one plastic part is keeping me from driving.
Yup that's the one I ordered, not from there though I wish I would have seen that one. I had mine sourced from japan, I have a buddy who lives there who is sending it to me. after it finally comes in which is gonna take forever. I'm gonna have to get some coil overs, might as well start looking for some options now... thanks everyone for the replys
hey everybody, I'm new here and a bit over my head, so I decided to changed my starter today, and boy it was more of a pain than I thought it was gonna be. after removing all of the 100's of vacuum lines and getting the intake off I realized there was no insulation on the knock wires and the accompanying harness so ordered that, but I broke this (see second picture) and I don't know where the heck to get it, is there a Toyota equivalent part or anybody have any ideas where I can order this?? I used to have a 01 mustang Bullitt and an 03 cobra which were infinitely easier to work on and acquire parts for, but here I am with my 02 Lexus sc430, btw its been in the family for over ten years one previous owner its silver w/cream interior and if im not mistaken under 90k miles...
So i was trying to have more access to the starter so i could tighten it down properly and i had to remove the coolant valley, So now I gotta order an replace those two gaskets, but my question is i ordered the new knock sensors and harness which all fit fine except where the wires go into the yellow loom box thingy, does anyone know if there is a connector in there for a four prong plug like the one showed or am i gonna have to get creative and cut and splice/ heat shrink wires together. any info on if there is a plug that i can just plug and play in that yellow loom box (which btw I couldn't open after 15 min, which is my general rule to stop and take a break before you break something). any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks- Lou this is the harness and knock sensors assembled this is the part that i have to connect which im hoping is in the yellow box of death. this is the wire i pulled out from the knock sensor which is why i ordered the harness in the first place.
Your best best is to slice and crimp it. We did this job last year(rodent chewed the knock sensor wire) and it have had no problems since. You may want to check out this thread starting with post 88:
syphered,
This is the vacuum valve and harness kit you want to get: Lexus 25860-50121 Valve Assy, Vacuum Switching. It comes with the harness and is cheaper than the valve alone! You'll probably want to replace the vacuum hose as well.
so i was finally starting to button stuff up, im pretty much working by myself here but i dont have any pictures without a giant hand in the way to see how things go. so i come to you guys humbly to see if you can snap me some pics of your 2002 sc430 under the hood the passenger side is mainly buttoned up but as for the drivers side i am definitely gonna need some pictures to see how things are supposed to go, btw, the starter is changed so are the knock sensors and they are rewired to the appropriate length. bolted the intake back on started plugging things in and my old phone broke with all the pics i took so if anyone has a stock setup under the hood it would be greatly appreciated. ANY HELP would be appreciated cause once this is all plugged back together she should start right up thanks and sorry for thee bother guys ive had 2 deaths in the family which kinda threw this project into i cant deal with right now pile. drivers side im having issuses with lining up the wire loom. same drivers side. need stock pic of. same drivers side... front of driver side im having trouble remembering where everything is supposed to go. this is the passenger side where im having trouble figuring out where the 3 connectors go, the fuel injectors are all lugged in on this side. these two elusive parts get bolted somewhere the one with the ball goes somewhere on the drivers side i think.
i hope these pics of my engine bay help. i’m not a wrencher, i change my oil and that’s about it, so hats off to you for doing all this. my stock 2002 just hit 281k on easter.
the elusive parts with the ***** go on top of the manifold and secure the back of the engine cover. the engine cover has clips that snap onto those *****. the front of the cover is secured with 10mm nuts.
