Needs tires, will probably go to 17” for a little softer ride.
As far as I know, I'm the only other CL member who minus-sized to 17" wheels and tires for a softer ride. I was nervous to do so as everyone else "plus-sizes" for better cornering performance (and it looks cool). I have no regrets, and with my lightweight Enkei RPF1 racing wheels, I notice more overall performance gains (braking and acceleration) than I notice the degraded cornering performance. The look is more "old-school," which I'm fine with.

Reason: typo

They don't look a whole lot different than my stock 18's, can you tell much difference in the ride?
The wider sidewall makes the SC look a little more like a classic sports car.
The cushioning of the ride has improved a lot. Potholes, bridge breaks in the roadway, and such are all much less jarring. The ride is slightly more floaty which is great for comfort, but not for cornering. In some ways, however, the car feels a little more forgiving in hard cornering. There is more of a progression between traction and breaking loose (less tendency for snap over-steer). So, while it may be slower in track times, it is more comfortable and reassuring while driving moderately fast in everyday driving.
As I stated in an earlier post, after being initially nervous about making this expensive change to the look and the driving dynamics, I'm completely happy with the compromise I made.
Hey. Just picked up a 2002 SC430, red with saddle and in very good shape for its age and 93K miles. Has a finicky top as its only problem, so far. Will be reading everything about the top workings to sort it out.
Hello, I've been driving 80s Mercedes for the last 25 years. I sold my last one a year ago. My wife has been driving a RX450H for the last 5 years. I started looking for a new, to me, car a few months ago. I had decided on a Roadster and was looking at Mercedes SL models and, if you can believe it, '92 Cadillac Alante. Additionally, I became interested in the Lexus SC430. The Alante was kind of cool, it has its following, a good group of enthusiasts and helpful resources. The Mercedes does as well, but also expensive maintenance issues. Anyway, while looking at ads I ran across a deal I could not ignore on this 2005 SC430. So I bought it.
2005 SC430 84,000 Miles
Exterior = Millennium Silver Metallic
Interior = Ecru
Audio = ML
Wheels = 19" TSW Snetterton Chrome(I don't care for chrome) Staggered Offset (unknown specs at this time)

WOW, now that's a good looking car! Heres my 2004..
hey everybody, I'm new here and a bit over my head, so I decided to changed my starter today, and boy it was more of a pain than I thought it was gonna be. after removing all of the 100's of vacuum lines and getting the intake off I realized there was no insulation on the knock wires and the accompanying harness so ordered that, but I broke this (see second picture) and I don't know where the heck to get it, is there a Toyota equivalent part or anybody have any ideas where I can order this?? I used to have a 01 mustang Bullitt and an 03 cobra which were infinitely easier to work on and acquire parts for, but here I am with my 02 Lexus sc430, btw its been in the family for over ten years one previous owner its silver w/cream interior and if im not mistaken under 90k miles...
