Has anyone had this done recently?
What did you/the installer do about the side and top trim pieces? Read something about them not re-installing those and going with some kind of aftermarket solution instead, possibly rubber.
What brand glass did you go with?
I recently replaced my windshield on my LS430. My windshield installer is the same one my dealership uses. He recommended using new trims. I bought everything from the dealership.
The downside to doing it that way is that OEM windshields are impossible to get now for the SC and there was only ONE left for order in the United States. I didn’t look into the SC’s trim pieces and if they’re still available for purchase. My installer says there’s many good options out there but warned against using Safelite as he had to repair a lot of their crappy installs.
I would recommend you ask your local Lexus dealership who does the installs for them. Assuming it’s not an in-house guy, he should be able to get everything you need at a reasonable price if you go aftermarket. You really want a good install or else you’ll be dealing with crazy wind noise or leaking.

Well, I went with an aftermarket W/S after comparing various brands. I used a local auto glass shop after talking to the actual installer dude. who impressed me with his commitment to quality work. I removed the wipers & the plastic vent cowl panel that sits under them, in preparation the day before. He allowed me to shadow him during the lengthy process, explaining each step as he went. I had the shop pre-apply a clear ceramic UV blocking tint sheet to the whole inside and a dark tint strip along the top sun visor area. Anyway, he spent 2 1/2 hours, taking his time. It turned out perfect, with no distortion or other defects, thankfully.

It sounds like you had a really good experience. Your installer sounds like he knew what he was doing. How expensive was the aftermarket windshield?
I used AAA, so I ended up paying for the UV block inside "tint", and a dark strip at the top- $110 out-of-pocket. I saw the invoice they sent to AAA- $1200, Yikes!

Glad you had a positive experience. Would you mind sharing what brand the glass is? What you paid? Photos of what the rubber seal/trim looks like?

You came out pretty good then. That would have been pretty expensive if they didn’t pay for most of it.
