what diffs fit into the sc300
ive searched and cant find an answer, one person asked and was told go buy a kaaz. i can look up ratios my self im looking to know what differentials bolt into the sc, are all the rwd's the same, does Ls fit?, gs,is, sc430?

Ok so you might get killed for asking this but I don't mind answering it real quick with what I know.
Supra TT Auto diff fits if you swap the drive shaft flange/yoke. I've done this before and it needs to be done with care. My method was marking both the bolt and the flange, loosening it with the tap of an impact and doing the rest by hand while counting turns. I wrote this down and tightened it down on the new diff with the same exact amount of turns. This way it would have (hopefully) the proper backlash. I never had any issues with it later on and I drove many miles.
GS300 diff fits
GS400 diff fits
Soarer diff fits
Supra TT 6 speed diff does not fit, it is much bigger
IS300 diff does not fit. I believe the IS300 shares the same diff with all X chassis in Japan. It appears slightly smaller/offset.
Hope this random info helps. If it doesn't, try a search on google. A lot of people have swapped diffs on these cars. Also, be very cautious when loosening/tightening the drain and fill bolts. Those allen housings are not happy to be alive and they will strip if you don't have a good grip on them.

Diff casings/pumpkins from the GS300/400, Supra MKIV NA and TT Auto and Z30 Soarer all fit the 92-00 SC chassis. These are all the same 200mm size diffs.
The companion flange of the GS and MKIV small diffs are slightly different: 111mm spacing va the SC/Soarer’s 101mm spacing. Therefore to fit a diff casing from one of those cars you need to swap over a companion flange from a 92-00 SC (or Z30 Soarer). Aside, you MUST do that procedure correctly so as to not upset the delicate pre-set depth of the diff pinion gear as it aligns to the internal ring gear around the differential. The SC and MKIV TSRMs cover this.
The Supra MKIV 6-speed diff is 220mm. It will fit after you swap in an MKIV 6-speed rear subframe. A lot more work and VERY expensive today. And parts are getting scarce. Stick with the very stout 200mm diffs that bolt right in or just require the companion flange swap.
Diffs from the IS300/Altezza do not fit. Those are the same design as Supra MKIII and Cressida diffs. Incompatible with SC’s.

The Kaaz 2-way LSDs are very good from what I have heard. There is supposed to be a "quiet" version which is a little more livable day to day if not building as a weekend/drift car. FYI most aftermarket clutch type LSDs available for the SC/Soarer/MKIV/GS 200mm diffs are 2-way other than one 1.5-way model from OS Giken. The Supra, Soarer and Aristo OEM Torsen gear type LSDs are all 1.5-Way (good/predictable until 500whp generally).

The 6 spd diff fits, thats whats on my car now. But yes stick w the cheaper diff because its not only less costly but a lot more available should any part fail.
the driver side axle i think are different between the two? Also the drive shaft length? Can amyone confirm?
i have a v160 into a 6spd diff now w the driveshaft that fits. Would swapping into an sc diff fit the same drive shaft?
are the gs and sc diff sizes the same?

For someone like me who doesn’t want to open up the pumpkin to mess with all the guts and companion flange, is it possible just swap the complete pumpkin with a companion flange from gs300/400 and use a gs driveshaft? Since it has a bigger flange, wouldn’t be easier just to cut and weld a right( big) flange on the d shaft?
Im just thinking different easier way, It still won’t have lsd with either option unless it’s a kaaz or tt

^^ Lexxium, I think it's MUCH easier to swap the companion flange than to mess with a custom driveshaft solution. What you're suggesting will be much more trouble and more costly versus just swapping over an SC flange on the diff.
If you were going to have a custom driveshaft made for an overall build project then by all means you could make the rear driveshaft have the 111mm spec on its flange side. Then you'd require an MKIV style 111mm d/s donut at the rear instead of the SC/Soarer's 101mm rubber donut.
