Default Ignition (igniter failure) Question???

Has anyone had an igniter fail on their SC? Car won't start, so I ran some diagnostics and they all point to a bad igniter. I also have an MSD ignition box that *could* be the problem. Just trying to sort it all out. This part is expensive! ($350). Yikes!

Is an igniter the same as a starter? I never heard the term before.

Default bypass the msd

thats what i would try fir-st.. just because the igniter is expensive.. ive had honda igniters go out all the time.. expecially on the 88-91 model year civic/integra distributors that i was working on at the time..

or try to find one used?? carparts.com..

The ignigter for a NA3.0L is the same for a V6 Camry. That should help. Plus, they nearly never go out. Had the same type of thing happen to me. Turned out to be the coil. Try that. Junk yards are best for the coils or ignitors. Around $25.
