- Bad start issues--
did a full tune up not too long ago but i've had this issue with the car ever since i've had it. While the car's warm if i turn it on and if sometimes if has a bad start and it sounds like it turns over on itself and stumbles but turns on but doesn't sound pretty and seems like it barely turns on but it sounds. anyone had or have this issue and can determine what it can be? no codes by the way.
You don't tell us what year your car is. This is always good information to know.
Our ES model is a 94. Several years ago, we started to have ignition problems. The ignition switch would sometimes have to be turned on and off several times to get the starter to activate. Also, there were several incidents where the car would "diesel." This sounds like what your car is doing.
After a battery change (old battery had one weak cell), I decided that the problem had to be the starter. Replaced it with a new (rebuilt) starter, and the problem has not recurred.
On the 94 model, the starter is located on top of the engine and is easily accessible. The price of the rebuilt starter (purchased from one of the Lexus dealers in Texas that sell on the internet) was also quite reasonable.

Had a issue today. Was trying to show the mechanic the car and I reined it on and off 6-7 times and then after the car turned on but starting shaking a little and turned off. It was then fine afterwards. Problem is now I need a place to take it to. Anyone recommend a place in socal?
ok so the problem is the idle control unit. dynamic auto service in midcity, ca wanted to charge me 150 to change out to a rebuilt part. I basically left and didn't do it because it's not a part to change but mainly just take off and clean. Does anyone have a DIY to clean it and the throttle body as well?
