(this pertains strictly to sc300 and 400 models)

Hey guys, i will be frenching an aftermarket radio into a stock sc400 radio as an experiment. (don't worry, i'm a tech)

I wanted to ask if anyone would happen to have a non working sc300 / 400 radio they would like to donate. This experiment is for the sc400/300 enthusiast of Club Lexus and pictures will be taken throughout the process each day untill completed.

Estimated time on completion will be two weeks. When completed the radio will be returned to the owner back in it's original form.

The benefit of this will be to show Club Lexus residents how to convert their own units over to have factory looking head units with aftermarket guts.

The project will be a sucess, i'm just looking for a donor.

i cant remember where i got the idea though mw.......

but i do know it would turn out to be a fun thread when i start posting the integration of the guts together. i'll have to use a certain radio with a wide single space screen like the old sony's that had the long running face display, or otherwise i'll have to modify the face to accept the new screen display. on the bright side, it will still be functional and all the buttons will work. (but not the changer) MAYBE the external volume control.

thanks tony, but i'd rather work on a d.o.a. unit. since they are shot already, i dont have to spend two weeks building perfect circuts back inside it. i'll leave that one up to you. there is a chance the donor will have to approve the faceplate to be modified also. so all in all i guess the donor will have to do this one in the name of science. lol.
