My radio in 07 RX350 does not work. It started out that the volume **** would not work and then we would have a blank screen. Now the radio does not work. Any idea on cost of a new factory radio or should I go to an after market?
A radio from the dealer costs between $2000 and $3000 depending on which version you have. And that's for the Panasonic radio, not the Mark Levinson radio.
I second mcomer's suggestion, get an aftermarket radio from Crutchfield. They know their stuff and provide excellent support. One stop shopping.
So if I purchased a radio unit as a spare for my '15 GS350, it would be plug and play? No plugging in a laptop typing in addresses for the vehicle to recognize the new unit? Is the satellite receiver inside the radio unit? Would that mean a new sat. radio id? The car alarm would work ok cuz the indicator is on the radio?
so I can get a spare radio from eBay, plug it into my car just make sure it's fully functional and if it is, it should work fine?

You have posted in the wrong forum if you want an answer. You should be posting in the 4th generation GS forum.
In general, only a Lexus radio would be plug and play. Aftermarket radios require mounting adaptor kits and electrical wiring kits. My guess is that you would lose the alarm indicator.

Wow Lexus dealer's are now quoting $2000-3000 for a Radio head unit swap? I got quoted $900 a couple of years ago to replace the AM/FM in-dash CD changer after the dread Error 4 code (CD changer jam). This was at the Lexus dealer BTW.
I went on Ebay and found a refurbished RX330 head unit for about $220 and bought it online. It took me about 2 hours to swap out my old head unit with the refurbished unit and has been working fine since.
