Default Alternator?

So I'm driving with the stereo on and thats it. I hit the brakes and then the speakers pop and my guage lights dim. This is a re-occuring problem and it usually starts happening about 2 minuets after I start driving my sc. I replaced the battery so its definately not that. My question is, does my alternator need replaced? Thanks for your time and advice!

Yeah Neal,

Your welcome, it is amazing thou. It took me a whopping 9 mins after your original post to search and link up that many threads. Hmm.. Boy oh boy, "retarted" is your words...not mine.

just kidding of course.

Glad to help Neal.

If you have not already been advised, check your neg battery cable for broken or defective welds. I do not mean the top of the cable...the cable must be taken out of the car and examined. I replaced a battery, ruined a good alternator and had the car towed(gasp) twice before I found a dealer knowledgeable enough about this fairly common problem fixed. A new cable did the job.......good luck.
