Question SC400 tail light question

I have a 93 SC400.

Should the entire red strip on the tail light be lit up when the lights are on? The whole strip lights up when the brakes are applied, but otherwise just the outside edge is lit up.

(see pics below)

Thanks

Looks like you upgraded to the newer style tail lights. Do they light up all the way across?

Like ethe Bimmers, Benzes etc., the SC'sall have a characteristic like this on all models [92-00]

The outer lights stay on when the parking lights are on, when brakes are depressed, they all light up. What you have is normal.

On the 95-00 models, the top strip is lit, and the lower middle lights come on when the brake is depressed [parking lights on]

Hey sc400, when you did the conversion, did your lights blink real fast too? I know this is because there is one less bulb, but how do we go about fixing it. I was thinking of putting a resistor in to either raise the power flow or lower it, in order to trick it into thinking there's one more bulb then there actually is. Let me know what you did to overcome this prob, as of right now, it looks real rice with the siezure-like blinking, thanks

You might want to try using swapping the Turn Signal Flasher Relay from the year of the lights your using. There is a resistor inside of it that should be different for each application.

Yeah, my signals blink like they are on crack. I don't really mind so I haven't done anything about it.

oh, and the entire top portion lights up for my tail light.

Thanks for this question with picture, I have wanted to ask same question. Is it possible to modify on those inner bulbs to be on all the time?
