Default replacing a keyless remote

My 93 SC300 came with a key that has the 1 button on it, but I was told it no longer works and I need a new key with the remote capability.

How do I go about getting a new one made? I searched and found some key fob on amazon / ebay etc. I don't really care it's a separate fob or on the key itself. Can a remote bought online be programmed at home?

the previous owner has taped wrapped over the key which seems to me the button was about the fall out and maybe the battery died eventually too.
Maybe the switch can be transferred to a new enclosure.. with a new battery..

I found this online, what about the programming procedure is it easy to DIY?

Get a Bulldog Keyless entry system KE1702 for about $50 and install it. Works great and by adding a relay you can have trunk pop as well. It will lock and unlock your doors while retaining the factory alarm system. Fairly easy to install every thing connects right where the factory alarm module is.

After my factory one quit, I replaced both keys, keyless module (ECU) and still a no go. I even checked to see if it was transmitting by turning the radio on and tuned it to 94.5, if I remember. Once you do this, press the key fob down and if the radio station goes down in volume, it is transmitting. Mine even did this. Still a no go. I bought a Avital with keyless entry and trunk release. No extra motor for the trunk.

Thanks does the bulldog continue to arm the factory alarm?

It looks like you have to splice in some wires
Or is there one wire that tells the car to arm and lock the doors

My light on the plastic, below the cluster still works, along where they installed the new light. If I lock the doors manually the factory alarm does not work. I assumed they disconnected it somehow but the light still works.

With the bulldog alarm the factory alarm works the same . Press lock button locks the doors and arm the system. Press unlock button unlock the door and disarm the system. Works great and has very good range too.

I opened the original key down to the circuit board
There is a connection on the corner to the key blade?
Do you guys know if the 93 sc ignition needs a chipped key

I want to get a new battery and try it out but no idea what battery type this requires,
Does anyone know?

BIGEZ, Is installing just a matter of splicing some wires together at the original transmitter / receiver location( passenger side rear side panel)?

Yes, I connected all the wires from the stock alarm module harness. I even mounted the Bulldog module right where the stock one is. Red wire for the 12v power supply and a chassic ground, the lock and unlock wires. Go to Bulldog.com and check out the online manual. All the information is there. Also check out 12volt.com for specific wire color code for your car.

Hey guys I got it to work
I bought a cr1216 from radio shack for a stupid price
I was bumped it didn't work at first

I took out everything and it seems the solder on the lower left is compromised
Sucked it out resoldered the joint and it worked
By the way that's the antenna

I have to stand pretty close and press it for a good .5 second for it to work but I understand thats how it was

BIGEZ did you cut the factory unit out completely? I don't see why it still needs to be there if you are not using factory remote
When you arm the bull dog does the dash security light turn on?

Yes, I removed the stock alarm module and mounted the Bulldog one in its place. I then stripped the wires needed for the connections, soldered and taped them up.
Yes, the alarm indicator red light works just like stock when you lock the door with the remote.

BigEZ so I was reading the bulldog diagrams there is a Red/Black FASD Output

I wonder which wire connected to factory wire to simulate the stock alarm?
I got the wiring info for my SC and it's not really clear, there is only a factory alarm disarm wire and it says it's in the driver kick panel.

So in the most basic install for this unit, we have 5 wires?

Red 12V constant
Ground
Unlock (blue/black)
Lock (green/block)
FASD Output (red/black)

I do not recall connecting the FASD. I will check my notes to see what else I did. I did add 2 extra spdt relays and added the trunk pop and ligh flash option.

OK, I connected the FASD Red/Black wire to the stock factory disarm wire (Green-) located in the driver side kick panel. This is to disarm the factory alarm when you unlock the door using the remote.
