Default anyone try this mod yet?

I was wondering if this does work.
If ur planning to go turbo anyways, buy the aem ems 2, load the required program on your stock NA 2jz, gain 18hp without any mods besides exhaust and a intake. Then when u finally build ur turbokit you'll already have a ems waiting.

The youtube link should be FSR motorsports installing a aem ems v2 on a sc300 with exhaust/intake and gaining 18hp.

thats just called running a standalone, you would probably be paying for tuning several times though at the least, may be more beneficial to just wait to install the turbo 18hp is good for an n/a but not really a "wow" for a 2jz in general.

Yeah, but you're not understanding what Ali said. You don't just pop a standalone in a car and gain power. Someone has to alter the maps, many of them, to achieve both good driveability and good power. It's called tuning. It takes time. And it's expensive, unless the tuner likes you, or they suck. In the case of the latter, you won't be happy. You like spending money twice? I doubt it, because if you had the money to spend in the first place you wouldn't be trying to spend coin to tune a lack luster N/A engine, you'd be doing a turbo build with a good tune.

Like Ali said. It's not worth the effort because your going to have to get the car tuned twice. Might as well install the standalone and get your tune after your setups done. Unless you don't mind paying for two tunes, but if you want to keep the build as cheap as possible just do the whole N/A-T build at once.

For the cost of the tuning I'm sure there's another way to pick up 18hp...no need to pay to have it tuned twice if you go turbo.
