My LED Door Handle Mod
I've always liked how cool these looked on BMWs so I decided to give it a shot with my SC300.
What I use was a pair of white LEDs, a clear low-profile lens mount which would mount LED and allow the light to disperse a little better, multiple feet of 18-20 gauge power wire,1/4" drill bit?, aluminum foil tape, in-line fuse holder, butt connectors and solder/heat shrink, duct tape, super glue.
I have an aftermarket alarm and most alarms have what you call "dome light supervision". All it does is sends a negative signal for 30 seconds after you unarm the remote and this signal remains until key is turned or after 30 seconds. I connected to negative wires to that and connected the red wires to a fused constant power source.
Below are a few pictures of the install. As you can see, there are two pictures of the door handle lit up, the first picture does not have the aluminum foil tape behind the door handle so the handle does not light up as bright compared the the one with aluminum foil tape. I only did that to make the LED brighter.
The picture of the back of the handle is crucial because if you do not mount your wiring like that, the window will touch the wires when rolled down.
Let me know what you guys think?
