Antenna Mast Installation--HELP!
Ok, i've don searches and read that to do this here are the steps:
start with radio off
1) remove bolt on top of antenna
2) turn radio on, and gently pull antenna until everything is out
3) if there are teeth missing, open up and clean out the motor before putting the new mast in.
4) slide new mast into motor and turn off radio
I think that's pretty much it, but in my case, the whole cable snapped off so I had to open up the motor and remove the old cable.
When I put my new one in, it would pull down the new cable when I turned my radio on and would push it all the way up when I turned my radio off. It's doing the opposite of what it should be doing.
Has anyone encountered this problem or know what to do?
Thanks!!!
Tony

ACleanSC4,
Remove the antenna, flip the "teeth" the oposite direction. Turn on the radio and slide the cable down as far as it will go, if you have it the correct way it will not go all the way down but stop when it catches on one of the gears. While holding the cable/antenna have someone turn off the radio and allow the motor to pull the cable/antenna down into the power assembly.

*sighs* still no luck on this and the darn thing keeps doing the opposite. I tried flipping the teeth around the other way but it doesn't pull it down.
So I got it to pull all the way down and I unplugged the motor so it won't make so much noise. Again, when off, it fully extends the antenna. When on, it pulls it down all the way and shoots it back up about 6 inches.

AcleanSC4,
When you opened up the motor to clean it. The motor or the wiring may have been reversed. Try switching your positive and negative wires or if you have a test light, when off there should be no power to either wire and when on there should be power to the positive wire.

Tony,
You might have tricked the motor to go backwards. This happen to me a few times while changing these masts. What happen to me in the past was that I happen to unplug the motor while the stereo/car was still on. This left the motor in a UP state. Then when reassembling the unit and powering it back up, it defaults to a DOWN state. To correct this you need to unplug the motor in the up state and plug it back in with the stereo off. That should reset it.
Worked for me in the past....(worked at a stereo shop next to a car wash....you have to fix ALOT of antennas.)
