Radio Antenna
Hi Guys,
My radio antenna just broke on me. It no longer goes up and down, just makes loud whirring noises when i turn the radio on and off. Any suggestions, is it the motor? If so, would you recommend i just take it to the dealer?
Thanks!

JUST A SUGGESTION, I did try this on my previous car ....
if the antenna is already up.. go to turn on ur radio wait until the sound is gone , turn off the radio and rush back (must be quick) then use ur finger to press down the antenna gently .. just follow by the sound . I believe it will be solved.. if is too tight, spray some WD40.. hope it will help..

If your hearing noises then more then likely the motor still works but the antenna mass itself is broken (The coil that makes the antenna go up and down is plastic and it brakes often, I myself fixed four antenna mass already ).
Changing the antenna mass is a pita.
You need to take the whole thing apart to remove the old broken off plastic piece and then wound up the new piece.
Godd luck.

I have a '92 LS 400 with 150,000 miles on it. My antenna just started to do the same thing. Do you know about how much a dealership would charge to have them repair it.
