Hey guys, Ive got a '92 Sc400 and the ignition switch has gone to crap. Ive decided on a push button start but Ive got a question. Can I simply pull the ignition switch, thus unlocking the steering wheel and relocate the Acc circut to a flipswitch? Id like to use the existing ignition switch location for the start button. I am aware that this removes an obvious security function. If anyone has a step by step on this Id appreciate it. I really dont have time to mess around with trial and error. Thanks ya'll
Looks good. I guess the volumn control **** is the best location as far as fitment goes. I dont want to spend a ton of cash to pull of one of the electronically protected push button systems, and I have to say, Id never tap the starter wire directly. I aim to splice into the column wires for my dirty work, if any one has a list of the wires and color coding Id appreciate it. Im still confused on the steering lock. Whats the best way to disable it? Im loathe to take a chisel to anything on the column, I was hoping that pulling the lock cylinder would solve that problem or is the consensus that this would simply leave the wheel locked? Thanks for your input guys, I appreciate it
I did mine recently, also you can install a kill switch, I used push button with no light in it, first pull the plastics under the steering column, next with a voltmeter check on the cables that go to the ignition switch, I think it was black and white strip cable I am not sure, just check which cable is the one that when you turn the key all the way to start the car send the signal, just taped that cable from there to the push button and from there send the cable to the starter and walla, only problem if you are manual this will eliminate the press the clutch feature to start the car aso in between the signal to the starter connect a simple switch (on/off) and install it or hide it in the car for extra security i hope this help.
