Default Lighting question

When are the "cornering lights" supposed to come on? Do they come on only at driving speed or in gear? I was curious because while doing a test i have yet to see them come on. BTW the car is a 1992 SC 300. If it ends up just being the bulbs, is there a way to make these lights come on all the time with the headlights?

Cornering lights only activate when you hit your turn signals. You can wire a relay to keep them on whenever your city lights/headlights are on so that they in effect become fog lights. I wrote the battery relay instructions down a while back. Search for a thread like "Installing a Relay". I should put that in the FAQ actually...

Yeah, the thing is that even when i had the car in gear and parked with the lights and signals on the cornering lights still wouldn't come on. Maybe the bulbs are burnt out, are they known to go out with age?

Hmmm, possibly, but highly unlikely that both died at the same time. Check your fuse box before buying new bulbs. Here, I posted up the relay how-to in the FAQ thread for you: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...631#post416631

OK... I looked in the engine compartment fuse box and couldn't find anything relating to corner lights. Am I overlooking something? Things would be way easier with a shop manual of some sort. Thanks again for your help

There's an auxiliary fuse box located above the driver foot well to the left side. My guess is that any fuse relating to the lights are in there.

I'm stuck, does anyone know what the fuse would be labeled for the corner lights? If it comes down to it i'm just gonna remove the bulbs and see if they're burnt out...i really want those things to work.

Aren't those lights pointing in the wrong directions to be useful as fog lights?

Ral, yeah, they are bit too wide and not as bright, but it sure does look better as a foglight then as cornering only. They will light up a lot more of the road side, where all the critters come from....

Ral,

I did mine a while back and put white bulbs in there. It is kinda funny being able to see the people next to you on the freeway at night. Even if they have limo tint, I can still see them.

OK, it ended up that one of the bulbs was burnt out. costed me $1.03 Now for using the cornering lights as fog lights...does this require me to remove that plethora of plastic guards underneath? It looks as if this is the only way to access the wires needed. Thanks again guys
