Temp gauge in the red. Ok so this is my second sc300. So, I am not stranger to the car. However, I am a stranger to this problem. So I changed out the radiator which was filthy and need to be changed anyway. The fan clutch was out, changed that. Replaced the thermostat. Meter is still reading in the red! Why is this happening?! I've been assured by a mechanic that the car is not actually over heating. Anyone have this problem or have had this problem?! Than you!
Any steam coming from the engine? Water in the oil? Milky oil? Rotten egg smell after car is at operating temp? Steam/smoke from the tail-pipe? If so, what color? Has it been like that since you got the car? Cluster ever been removed or tampered with?
A bad temp sensor wont register on the gauge, it will simply stay at its lowest point. There are several questions that need to be answered before jumping to a blown headgasket, not to mention the sensory side effects associated with a BHG (i.e.-smells, seeing steam/smoke, hearing the car running on a dead cylinder, etc.).
No steam. No egg smell. No smoke coming out tail pipe. No water in oil. No milky oil. No smoke. It has been doing it since I purchased the vehicle. The cluster has been tampered with. Not while in my possession. Only reason I know so is because the clips at the top of the cluster are gone lol.
Well if the car is definitely "not overheating" in technical terms, then there is an issue with the gauge. Do you have a buddy that you can swap the gauges with just to check? Unfortunately this is going to be a process of elimination.

^^That right there. I would be willing to bet money that when it was removed, the needle was moved by hand. I would say there is a 99% chance you have nothing to worry about except how to set the needle back to where it should be.
Does the upper radiator hose feel hot while the car is running? My car wasnt cycling antifreeze through the upper hose so it was overheating. Just throwing ideas out.
