SC570--The OFFICIAL build thread
Well, if your starter is like the 5.3L I had in my old Toyota truck it has the big 4/6g power cable to the battery (always hot), and then the solenoid is triggered by +12V from the ignition switch/relay/whatever you're using. Only hot when the key is turned to start.
Make SURE you have GOOD ground(s) from the block to the chassis. Like a couple 4g cables to the chassis at the minimum. That often gets people when doing swaps like this and it won't turn over
My 5.3 I was using HPTuners and had VATS and all that jazz disabled, which if you don't have VATS disabled its NOT going to start. It WILL turn over, but obviously won't start.
sleeeper!

Worst case scenario, I skip the ignition switch starter signal and use it simply to turn power on, and install a direct starter signal with a push button start and some 2awg cable with a heavy relay.
. I sent you a PM, sorry I didnt get back to you sooner.Thank you sir, and trust me it wasnt easy parting with the 2JZ, but so far Im happy.
Ok this theft deterrent garbage on the starter relay (pin #2) is getting on my nerves...I just need to bypass it, what can I jump it to? Can I just jump it to pin #1 and be done with it?
Tried it, but it didnt work...SOOO, Im going to just run an independent starter/Ign signal and bypass everything. I have plenty of 2awg and 4awg cable here, and have some spare relays, so Im going to tackle that tomorrow, tighten up a couple clamps and see how things go.
Oh wait isn't it pin 3 that is the ground through the theft deterrent ecu though?
Hey CL, its been a little while I know. The build is still in progress, just slower than before due to work conflicts with my weekends and now my weekdays. I have some things waiting to be installed, but with the wife gone M-F and me home with my kids, then working on the weekends, its a PITA to find time.
As soon as I get more done I will start updating the build again. Just rest-assured I have not and will not give up on the build. And with the wife working now too, some other things may get done sooner than expected, but Im not telling.

Oh no, Im not going anywhere. Just dealing with my kids during the day, I barely find time to get my work started for the weekend..unfortunately the SC is at the bottom of my to-do list.
Ahhh, that's ok then, I was seriously worried for you for a minute there.
They're busy little creatures at that ages though, I can see why your project is progressing at its current pace. No worries though, they're only that young once and you can build a car any time.
