O/D Light flashing
I have a 93 SC400 auto that was recently purchased from another member (attzor). I had the seals replaced for the tranny, since it had a massive leak and fluid was burning off the exhaust. It now shifts a little weird, actually shifted better with the leaks...the O/D lights starts to flash after driving for a few seconds, but no CEL is on. I only used Toyota tranny fluid, and have since changed the filter and fluid again. I can feel it shift 3 times when driving, but it seems like the 2nd to 3rd shift happens way too quick. Tranny will shift into L and 2 with no problems while driving. I have no problem with changing the solenoids, but how do you pinpoint if this is the problem and exactly which one is bad? And what do the 3rd and 4th solenoids control? And how much do the solenoids usually cost?

yea more then likely its the solenoids ..u have a a341e tranny so solenoids are a little more i believe 130-150 for both..im doing same thing and replacing mine in my sc3..u can pull the code to see which if u want to pin point just like you would when pulling a CEL code...jump i te1 and e1 in ur diagnostic port and check the O/D off blinks.then research to see what it stands for mine is either 26 or 62 i cant member but that was for solenoid 1...picking mine up tomorrow good luck

reset the ECU and report back with results.
make sure cruise control and overdrive still work after resetting the ECU.
oh.
and make sure you reset the transmission ECU as well.

I removed the negative battery cable for a couple of hours..hope that resets the ECU..not sure on the transmission ECU..but I drove the car to work, drives and shifts a little bit better...and NO O/D light is flashing after driving to work for 15miles and Cruise Control works... Now, if I can remember how to reset the memory seats... I'll drive it a little harder on the way home and post back. Any one else have any other suggestions?

you're supposed to do hard starts man! that resets the ECU and makes the car drive faster..
also when you FIRST start the car after an ECU reset - put the handbrake on.. foot on the brake - and slowly cycle through the gears to get it "settled in"
do it again
let me konw how it goes man..
and resetting the memory of the elec seats - i don't know cos i dont have MY car yet (it's still in transit) but if i could hazard a guess - put the seats how you want .. then HOLD the button..
does that make sense??? do it kinda like a radio preset =)

Ok.. so I reset it again while at work, then cycled thru the gears and took off hard in it...after 10 mins of driving the O/D light starts to blink again. I'll try to pull the codes later this morning. Any suggestions guys?

ok..Rawkus..pm sent....I am now confused...does the lack of a specific code --like a 62 or 63 rule out the solenoids? Where is this tranny speed sensor located and how do I change it out? I read somewhere that a failing solenoid will also cause a code 67, but seems like I would get 2 codes..or is my tranny shot and I need to search for a new one...it worked great with no o/d light flashing until my friend changed out the seal for the leaking transmission.... If anyone knows where this sensor is located and how to test it that would be great...

bump for the evening folks.... any suggestions? Is there a way to test your solenoids? I was thinking of cleaning them and looking for the speed sensors to see if there are any loose wires.
