Default Headlights

Does anyone know where or how they replace the plastic cover on the headlights to clear ones. Looks way better than the factory ones which have a bunch of lines incorperated in the lens.

you've got to do that yourself by taking it apart and painting it. do a search and you should get some info. a couple of people have done this already.

Thanks for the info but I 've already done that mod to the head lights. I was refering to the clear plexiglass that covers the headlight, any thoughts on how to make/ install clear ones (without the horizontal lines the factory one has ).

This car in the pic that I've posted before has lines on the headlights just like everyone else. Just has them painted black.

I think what he means is that the lens's are clear on that SC....My first time seeing that...Looks good......Now I'm wondering where to get those...they sure dont look stock from the pic...I would imagine the whole lens cover assembly would have to be replaced, and I know of a place that would do that, (my buddy paulsexotics.com can get any lens made) but is there already somebody that has them?

AAaargh...

Cleaning out the headlights of those lines is what I've been working on for the last week. I was *hoping* no one would say anything on the board about something similiar... haha oh well. Anyways the 'chrome' part is painted black (same color as my car) with the lines removed. I'm just waiting for my passenger side headlight to come in and work on that, then I'll have a full set.

so shhhhh.

don't worry, i'll post pictures and instruction only when i'm done

Also, there is a 2nd clear lense in the oem headlights that surrounds the blinkers. I think that removing these really improves the look of the OEM lenses. When my headlight gets in i'll take some pics of the chrome style headlight with and without this lense.

In the first pic you can't really see his headlamps (since the pic is far away) so I don't know how people are coming to the conclusion that he doesn't have lines on his headlights. Maybe if it was a close up like the second pic, then you could tell. My superman, extra-zoom, vision hasn't been working lately, so I still can't see the first pic's headlamps that good.

i will try to take a guess and say, wet sand the inside side of the lense and then polish it with one of those scratch remover thingy..

heh, i'll probably try again on thursday. I've tried wetsanding and polishing but i think i need to work in more steps between the initial sanding and the polishing.

I started with 200 grit, that was a complete waste of my time! I found some 20 grit and started from there. Then I went to 60, 120, 200, 400, heavy scratch remover, polishing. I'm guessing that I didn't take enough time with sanding the lense between 60-200 grits.

The lines are very hard to remove in the corners of the lense, in fact, i still have some small lines in the medial corner of the lense (which I will eventually get out). My only fear is that it's going to be a ***** to get that part cleared out when it becomes opaque. But unlike the tail lenses, I can take my time with these
